Jesus said to him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Then Jesus saith to him, Get thee hence, Satan; for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and behold angels came and waited upon him.
And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost, returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, Being forty days tempted by the devil. And in those days he ate nothing, and when they were ended he hungered. And the devil said to him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.read more.

Then Peter taking hold of him, rebuked him, saying, Favour thyself, Lord: this shall in no wise be unto thee. But he turning said to Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan; thou art an offence to me: for thou savourest not the things of God, but the things of men.
Then entered Satan into Judas, surnamed Iscariot, being of the number of the twelve.
Jesus having said this, was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily I say unto you, one of you will betray me. Then the disciples looked one on another, doubting of whom he spake. Now there was lying in the bosom of Jesus, one of the disciples whom Jesus loved.read more.
Simon Peter therefore beckoneth to him, to ask who it was of whom he spake. He then, leaning on the breast of Jesus, saith to him, Lord, who is it? Jesus answered, It is he to whom I shall give the sop when I have dipped it. And having dipped the sop, he giveth it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon. And after the sop, then Satan entered into him.
Then the Pharisees went out, and took counsel against him, how they might kill him.
And the Pharisees going out, straightway took counsel with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.
And they were filled with madness, and talked one with another, what they should do to Jesus.
When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus, to put him to death.
Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only broke the sabbath, but also said, that God was his own Father, making himself equal with God.
After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.
For even hereunto are ye called; for Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, that ye might follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who when he was reviled, reviled not again, when he suffered he threatened not, but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:read more.
Who himself bore our sins in his own body on the tree, that we being dead to sin might live to righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
So that the word which is written in their law is fulfilled, They hated me without a cause.
Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, going to the chief priests, Said, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him to you? And they bargained with him for thirty pieces of silver. And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.
And they were exceeding sorrowful and began each of them to say to him, Lord, Is it I? And he answering said, He that dippeth his hand with me in the dish, the same will betray me.read more.

Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas to the governor's palace, and it was early: and they went not into the palace themselves, that they might not be defiled, but might eat the passover. Pilate therefore went out to them, and said, What accusation do ye bring against this man? They answered and said to him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him to thee.read more.
Then said Pilate to them, Take ye him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews said to him, It is not lawful for us to put any man to death: So the saying of Jesus was fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die.

And falling to the earth, he heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. And I persecuted this way to the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women: As likewise the high priest is my witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters to the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them who were there to Jerusalem to be punished.
I indeed thought myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth: Which also I did in Jerusalem: and having received authority from the chief priests, I shut up many of the saints in prisons, and when they were killed, I gave my vote against them. And frequently punishing them in all the synagogues, I compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even to foreign cities.
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more being reconciled, we shall be saved through his life.
(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction,
Now I rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up in my flesh that which is behind of the sufferings of Christ for his body, which is the church:
For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. The last enemy that is destroyed is death. For he hath put all things under his feet.
Saying, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my righthand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool.
For David is not ascended into the heavens; but he saith himself, The Lord said to my Lord,
Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and hath given him a name which is above every name, That at the name of Jesus every knee might bow, of those in heaven, and those on earth, and those under the earth: And every tongue might confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord in the glory of God the Father.
Seeing it is a righteous thing with God, to recompence affliction to them that afflict you. And to you that are afflicted rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his mighty angels, In flaming fire, taking vengeance on them who know not God, and who obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.read more.

But to which of the angels did he ever say, Sit at my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
for ever sat down at the right hand of God, From thenceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
