'Adversaries' in the Bible

A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son.O Lord, how my adversaries have increased!Many are rising up against me.

Lord, lead me in Your righteousnessbecause of my adversaries;make Your way straight before me.

Old from provocation is mine eye, It is old because of all mine adversaries,

Rise up, Lord, in Your anger;lift Yourself up against the fury of my adversaries;awake for me;You have ordained a judgment.

Because of Your adversaries,You have established a strongholdfrom the mouths of children and nursing infantsto silence the enemy and the avenger.

His ways are always secure;Your lofty judgments are beyond his sight;he scoffs at all his adversaries.

Lest mine enemy say, 'I overcame him,' Mine adversaries joy when I am moved.

From the wicked who despoil and deal violently with me,My deadly enemies who surround me.

You have clothed me with strength for battle;You subdue my adversaries beneath me.

He frees me from my enemies.You exalt me above my adversaries;You rescue me from violent men.

Thou arrangest before me a table, Over-against my adversaries, Thou hast anointed with oil my head, My cup is full!

When evil doers come near to me to eat my flesh, My adversaries and mine enemies to me, They have stumbled and fallen.

Because of my adversaries,show me Your way, Lord,and lead me on a level path.

Give me not to the will of my adversaries, For risen against me have false witnesses, And they breathe out violence to me.

I am ridiculed by all my adversariesand even by my neighbors.I am dreaded by my acquaintances;those who see me in the street run from me.

They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow the thing that good is.

My adversaries taunt me,as if crushing my bones,while all day long they say to me,“Where is your God?”

By Thee our adversaries we do push, By Thy name tread down our withstanders,

For Thou hast saved us from our adversaries, And those hating us Thou hast put to shame.

He will repay my adversaries for their evil.Because of Your faithfulness, annihilate them.

My adversaries trample me all day,for many arrogantly fight against me.

My faithful God will come to meet me;God will let me look down on my adversaries.

In God we do mightily, And He treadeth down our adversaries!

For the music director; by David, a psalm, a song. God springs into action! His enemies scatter; his adversaries run from him.

Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee.

Let them be confounded and consumed that are adversaries to my soul; let them be covered with reproach and dishonour that seek my hurt.

Your adversaries roared in the meeting placewhere You met with us.They set up their emblems as signs.

Let this be the reward of mine adversaries from the LORD, and of them that speak evil against my soul.

The Lord (Father) says to my Lord (the Messiah, His Son),“Sit at My right handUntil I make Your enemies a footstool for Your feet [subjugating them into complete submission].”

Sustained is his heart -- he feareth not, Till that he look on his adversaries.

Your commands make me wiser than my adversaries, since they are always with me.

Cut me off hath my zeal, For mine adversaries forgot Thy words.

Though my persecutors and adversaries are numerous, I do not turn aside from your decrees.

How blessed [happy and fortunate] is the man whose quiver is filled with them;They will not be ashamedWhen they speak with their enemies [in gatherings] at the [city] gate.

And He delivereth us from our adversaries, For to the age is His kindness.

And in Thy kindness cuttest off mine enemies, And hast destroyed all the adversaries of my soul, For I am Thy servant!
