'Ancestors' in the Bible

“You have heard that it was said to our ancestors, Do not murder, and whoever murders will be subject to judgment.

“Again, you have heard that it was said to our ancestors, You must not break your oath, but you must keep your oaths to the Lord.

Then you say, "If we had been living in the days of our ancestors, we would have had no part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.'
