'Asked' in the Bible
And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am?
“But you,” He asked them, “who do you say that I am?”Peter answered, “God’s Messiah!”
When his disciples James and John observed this rejection, they asked, "Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?"
Just then an expert in the Law stood up to test Jesus. He asked, "Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
“What is written in the law?” He asked him. “How do you read it?”
But wanting to justify himself, he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”
But Martha was distracted by her many tasks, and she came up and asked, “Lord, don’t You care that my sister has left me to serve alone? So tell her to give me a hand.”
Now suppose one of you fathers is asked by his son for a fish; he will not give him a snake instead of a fish, will he?
Or if he is asked for an egg, he will not give him a scorpion, will he?
Others, to put Him to the test, asked Him for a sign in the sky.
As He was speaking, a Pharisee asked Him to dine with him. So He went in and reclined at the table.
But Jesus asked him, "Mister, who appointed me to be a judge or arbitrator over you people?"
“Lord,” Peter asked, “are You telling this parable to us or to everyone?”
That servant who knew his master's will but did not get ready or do what his master asked will receive a severe beating.
But the one who did not know his master's will and did things worthy of punishment will receive a light beating. From everyone who has been given much, much will be required, and from the one who has been entrusted with much, even more will be asked.
He asked them, "Do you think that these Galileans were more sinful than all the other Galileans because they suffered like this?
Thus Jesus asked, "What is the kingdom of God like? To what should I compare it?
“Lord,” someone asked Him, “are there few being saved?”He said to them,
In response, Jesus asked the law experts and the Pharisees, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath or not?”
Then he asked them, "If your son or ox falls into a well on the Sabbath day, you would pull him out immediately, wouldn't you?"
"When any one invites you to a wedding banquet, do not take the best seat, lest perhaps some more honoured guest than you may have been asked,
And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.
So he called the manager in and asked, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your management, because you can no longer be my manager.’
“So he summoned each one of his master’s debtors. ‘How much do you owe my master?’ he asked the first one.
“Next he asked another, ‘How much do you owe?’“‘A hundred measures of wheat,’ he said.“‘Take your invoice,’ he told him, ‘and write 80.’
Jesus asked, "Ten men were made clean, weren't they? Where are the other nine?
Being asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God will come, He answered them, “The kingdom of God is not coming with something observable;
“Where, Lord?” they asked Him.He said to them, “Where the corpse is, there also the vultures will be gathered.”
And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
“Why do you call Me good?” Jesus asked him. “No one is good but One—God.
Those who heard this asked, “Then who can be saved?”
And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.
And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,
While they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, "Why are you untying the colt?"
and asked him, "Tell us: By what authority are you doing these things, and who gave you this authority?"
But Jesus looked at them and asked, "What does this text mean: "The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone'?
And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly:
Then came to him certain of the Sadducees, which deny that there is any resurrection; and they asked him,
and asked him, "Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies and leaves a wife but no child, the man should marry the widow and have children for his brother.
Then he asked them, "How can people say that the Messiah is David's son?
And they asked him, saying, Master, but when shall these things be? and what sign will there be when these things shall come to pass?
“Where do You want us to prepare it?” they asked Him.
“Simon, Simon, look out! Satan has asked to sift you like wheat.
Then Jesus asked his disciples, "When I sent you out without a wallet, traveling bag, or sandals, you didn't lack anything, did you?" They replied, "Nothing at all."
“Why are you sleeping?” He asked them. “Get up and pray, so that you won’t enter into temptation.”
But Jesus asked him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?"
When those around Him saw what was going to happen, they asked, “Lord, should we strike with the sword?”
And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee?
As soon as it was day, the whole body of the Elders, both High Priests and Scribes, assembled. Then He was brought into their Sanhedrin, and they asked Him,
They all asked, “Are You, then, the Son of God?”And He said to them, “You say that I am.”
"Why do we need any more testimony?" they asked. "We have heard it ourselves from his own mouth!"
And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.
When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilaean.
And he questioned Him at some length, but Jesus made no reply.
And Pilate gave sentence that what they asked for should be done.
And he released him that for insurrection and murder had been cast into prison, whom they asked for; but Jesus he delivered up to their will.
He approached Pilate and asked for Jesus’ body.
So the women were terrified and bowed down to the ground.“Why are you looking for the living among the dead?” asked the men.
Then He asked them, “What is this dispute that you’re having with each other as you are walking?” And they stopped walking and looked discouraged.
“What things?” He asked them.So they said to Him, “The things concerning Jesus the Nazarene, who was a Prophet powerful in action and speech before God and all the people,
And it happened that as He reclined at the table with them, He took the bread and blessed it, and breaking it, He began giving it to them.
Then they asked each other, "Our hearts kept burning within us as he was talking to us on the road and explaining the Scriptures to us, didn't they?"
“Why are you troubled?” He asked them. “And why do doubts arise in your hearts?
But while they still were amazed and unbelieving because of their joy, He asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”
And they asked him, What then? Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou that prophet? And he answered, No.
“Who are you, then?” they asked. “We need to give an answer to those who sent us. What can you tell us about yourself?”
And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not that Christ, nor Elias, neither that prophet?
When Jesus turned and noticed them following Him, He asked them, “What are you looking for?”They said to Him, “Rabbi” (which means “Teacher”), “where are You staying?”
“Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Nathanael asked him.“Come and see,” Philip answered.
“How do you know me?” Nathanael asked.“Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you,” Jesus answered.
“What has this concern of yours to do with Me, woman?” Jesus asked. “My hour has not yet come.”
Then the Jewish leaders asked him, "What sign can you show us as authority for doing these things?"
“But how can anyone be born when he is old?” Nicodemus asked Him. “Can he enter his mother’s womb a second time and be born?”
Presently there came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus asked her to give Him some water;
“How is it that You, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” she asked Him. For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.
Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
Just then His disciples came, and they were surprised to find Him talking with a woman. However, no one said, “What are You asking about?” or, “Why are You talking to her?”
But meanwhile the disciples asked him saying, Rabbi, eat.
Therefore, when the Samaritans came to Him, they asked Him to stay with them, and He stayed there two days.
When this man heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and asked him repeatedly to come down and heal his son, because he was about to die.
He asked them at what time he got better. “Yesterday at seven in the morning the fever left him,” they answered.
When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he asked him, "Do you want to get well?"
Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?
Therefore, when Jesus looked up and noticed a huge crowd coming toward Him, He asked Philip, “Where will we buy bread so these people can eat?”
He asked this to test him, for He Himself knew what He was going to do.
When they had found him on the other side of the sea, they asked him, "Rabbi, when did you get here?"
“What can we do to perform the works of God?” they asked.
“What sign then are You going to do so we may see and believe You?” they asked. “What are You going to perform?
Jesus, knowing in Himself that His disciples were complaining about this, asked them, “Does this offend you?
So Jesus asked the Twelve, "You don't want to leave, too, do you?"
Then the Jewish leaders asked one another, "Where does this man intend to go that we won't be able to find him? Surely he's not going to the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks, is he?
Then the temple police came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them, “Why haven’t you brought Him?”
One of their own, Nicodemus (the man who had previously met with Jesus), asked them,
"Does our Law," he asked, "judge a man without first hearing what he has to say and ascertaining what his conduct is?"
"Do you also come from Galilee?" they asked in reply. "Search and see for yourself that no Prophet is of Galilaean origin."
They asked this to trap Him, in order that they might have evidence to accuse Him.Jesus stooped down and started writing on the ground with His finger.
Then Jesus stood up and asked her, "Dear lady, where are your accusers? Hasn't anyone condemned you?"
Then they asked Him, “Where is Your Father?”“You know neither Me nor My Father,” Jesus answered. “If you knew Me, you would also know My Father.”
