'Commands' in the Bible

"I tore the kingdom away from David's dynasty. "Then I gave it to you. But you have not lived like my servant David, who kept my commands with all his heart, and did only what I considered to be right.

And he saith, 'I have not troubled Israel, but thou and the house of thy father, in your forsaking the commands of Jehovah, and thou goest after the Baalim;

But Jehu wrote them another letter: "If you're loyal to me, and if you intend to obey my commands, then bring the heads of your master's sons and meet me in Jezreel about this time tomorrow."

And Jehovah testifieth against Israel, and against Judah, by the hand of every prophet, and every seer, saying, 'Turn back from your evil ways, and keep My commands, My statutes, according to all the law that I commanded your fathers, and that I sent unto you by the hand of My servants the prophets;'

They abandoned all of the commands given by the LORD their God, crafted for themselves cast images of two calves, constructed an Asherah, worshipped all of the stars in heaven, and served Baal.

But Judah, too, did not keep the commands of the LORD their God. Instead, they lived the lifestyle that Israel had chosen,

Until this day they [are] doing according to their former customs; none of them [are] fearing Yahweh, and none of them [are] doing according to their statutes, to their decisions, to the law, or to the commands that Yahweh commanded the descendants of Jacob [to] which he had given the name Israel.

The statutes, the decisions, the law, and the commands that he wrote to you, you shall observe to do always, and you shall not fear other gods.

because he depended on the LORD, not abandoning pursuit of him, and keeping the LORD's commands that he had commanded Moses.

And the king standeth by the pillar, and maketh the covenant before Jehovah, to walk after Jehovah, and to keep His commands, and His testimonies, and His statutes, with all the heart, and with all the soul, to establish the words of this covenant that are written on this book, and all the people stand in the covenant.

David's power steadily grew, for the Lord who commands armies was with him.

"So now, say this to my servant David: 'This is what the Lord who commands armies says: "I took you from the pasture and from your work as a shepherd to make you a leader of my people Israel.

so it may become a reality and you may gain lasting fame, as people say, 'The Lord who commands armies is the God of Israel.' David's dynasty will be established before you,

and I have established his kingdom to the age, if he is strong to do My commands, and My judgments, as at this day.

'And now, before the eyes of all Israel, the assembly of Jehovah, and in the ears of our God, keep and seek all the commands of Jehovah your God, so that ye possess this good land, and have caused your sons to inherit after you unto the age.

And behold, the working groups of the priests and the Levites for all the service of the house of God; and with you in all the work for all [those] willing with the skill for every service, and the commanders and all the people for all your commands."

granting to my son Solomon to keep with a devoted heart your commands, your decrees, and your statutes, carrying out all of them, and that he may build the Temple for which I have made the preparations.

However, if you turn away and abandon My statutes and My commands that I have set before you and if you go and serve other gods and worship them,

acting in compliance with the daily rule by offering them in conformity to commands issued by Moses for the Sabbaths, the New Moons, the three annual festivals (the Festival of Unleavened Bread, the Festival of Weeks, and the Festival of Tents).

He ordered Judah to seek the Lord God of their ancestors and to observe his law and commands.

but sought the God of his father and walked by His commands, not according to the practices of Israel.

"You are to carry out your duties in the fear of the LORD, serving him faithfully with your whole heart. And this is a copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave to Ezra the priest, the scribe, a scribe of the words of the commands of Jehovah, and of His statutes on Israel:

'And now, what do we say, O our God, after this? for we have forsaken Thy commands,

do we turn back to break Thy commands, and to join ourselves in marriage with the people of these abominations? art not Thou angry against us -- even to consumption -- till there is no remnant and escaped part?

I said,Yahweh, the God of heaven, the great and awe-inspiring God who keeps His gracious covenant with those who love Him and keep His commands,

We have acted corruptly toward You and have not kept the commands, statutes, and ordinances You gave Your servant Moses.

But if you return to Me and carefully observe My commands, even though your exiles were banished to the ends of the earth, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place where I chose to have My name dwell.”

"You also came down to Mount Sinai, spoke with them from heaven, and gave them impartial regulations, true laws, statutes, and good commands.

And Thy holy sabbath Thou hast made known to them, and commands, and statutes, and law, Thou hast commanded for them, by the hand of Moses Thy servant;

But our ancestors acted arrogantly;they became stiff-necked and did not listen to Your commands.

You admonished them to return to your Law, but they acted arrogantly, and would not listen to your commands. They sinned against your regulations, which if anyone obeys, he will live by them. They turned away, being stubborn and stiff-necked, and they did not listen.

Furthermore, neither our kings, nor our leaders, nor our priests nor our ancestors have practiced your Law or paid attention to your commands and warnings by which you admonished them.

join with their noble brothers and commit themselves with a sworn oath to follow the law of God given through God’s servant Moses and to carefully obey all the commands, ordinances, and statutes of Yahweh our Lord.

And we have appointed for ourselves commands, to put on ourselves the third of a shekel in a year, for the service of the house of our God,

They were subject to the commands of the king, who provided for the singers daily.

The Lord's precepts are fair and make one joyful. The Lord's commands are pure and give insight for life.

The commands to fear the Lord are right and endure forever. The judgments given by the Lord are trustworthy and absolutely just.

Who is this majestic king? The Lord who commands armies! He is the majestic king! (Selah)

Rely on the Lord! Obey his commands! Then he will permit you to possess the land; you will see the demise of evil men.

By day Yahweh commands his loyal love, and in the night his song [is] with me, a prayer to the God of my life.

We have not been unfaithful, nor have we disobeyed your commands.

And place in God their confidence, And forget not the doings of God, But keep His commands.

Yet they challenged and defied the sovereign God, and did not obey his commands.

If only my people would obey me! If only Israel would keep my commands!

O Lord, teach me how you want me to live! Then I will obey your commands. Make me wholeheartedly committed to you!

if they profane my statutes; and do not keep my commands,

to those who keep his covenant, who are careful to obey his commands.

Bless the LORD, you angels who belong to him, you mighty warriors who carry out his commands, who are obedient to the sound of his words.

He sent darkness, and it became dark—for did they not defy His commands?

All Your commands are true;people persecute me with lies—help me!

I realize that everything has its limits, but your commands are beyond full comprehension.

Your commands make me wiser than my adversaries, since they are always with me.

Depart from me, you evil ones,so that I may obey my God’s commands.

I truly love your commands more than gold, including fine gold.

I open my mouth and pantbecause I long for Your commands.

Trouble and distress have overtaken me,but Your commands are my delight.

You are near, Lord,and all Your commands are true.

Lord, I hope for Your salvationand carry out Your commands.
