'Descendant' in the Bible
"I, the Lord, promise that a new time will certainly come when I will raise up for them a righteous branch, a descendant of David. He will rule over them with wisdom and understanding and will do what is just and right in the land.
But they shall serve the Lord their God and [the descendant of] David their King, whom I will raise up for them.
In those days and at that time I will raise up for them a righteous descendant of David. "'He will do what is just and right in the land.
For thus says the Lord, ‘David shall never lack a man (descendant) to sit on the throne of the house of Israel;
and the Levitical priests shall never lack a man (descendant) to offer burnt offerings before Me and to burn grain offerings and to prepare sacrifices all day long.’”
could my covenant with my servant David and my covenant with the Levites ever be broken. So David will by all means always have a descendant to occupy his throne as king and the Levites will by all means always have priests who will minister before me.
So I took Jeremiah's son Jaazaniah (a descendant of Habazziniah), his brothers, all his sons, and the whole family of the Rechabites.
