When the Israelis heard about it, they announced, "Look here, the descendants of Reuben, the descendants of Gad, and the half-tribe of Manasseh have constructed an altar in Canaan's frontier district of the Jordan River, on the side apportioned to the Israelis."

Next to them Rephaiah son of Hur, ruler over half the district of Jerusalem, made repairs.

Beside him Shallum son of Hallohesh, ruler over half the district of Jerusalem, made repairs—he and his daughters.

Malchijah son of Rechab, ruler over the district of Beth-haccherem, repaired the Dung Gate. He rebuilt it and installed its doors, bolts, and bars.

Shallun son of Col-hozeh, ruler over the district of Mizpah, repaired the Fountain Gate. He rebuilt it and roofed it. Then he installed its doors, bolts, and bars. He also made repairs to the wall of the Pool of Shelah near the king’s garden, as far as the stairs that descend from the city of David.

After him Nehemiah son of Azbuk, ruler over half the district of Beth-zur, made repairs up to a point opposite the tombs of David, as far as the artificial pool and the House of the Warriors.

Next to him the Levites made repairs under Rehum son of Bani. Beside him Hashabiah, ruler over half the district of Keilah, made repairs for his district.

After him their fellow Levites made repairs under Binnui son of Henadad, ruler over half the district of Keilah.

Next to him Ezer the son of Jeshua, the official of Mizpah, repaired another section [northward] in front of the ascent to the armory at the Angle [in the wall].

After him the priests worked, men of the nearby district.

Zichri's son Joel was their overseer, and Hassenuah's son Judah was in command of the second district of the city.

So the sons of the singers were assembled from the district around Jerusalem, and from the villages of the Netophathites,

If you see the oppression of the poor, and the violent taking away of justice and righteousness in a district, don't marvel at the matter: for one official is eyed by a higher one; and there are officials over them.

Concerning Edom.Thus says the Lord of hosts,“Is there no longer any wisdom in Teman?Has good counsel vanished from the intelligent and prudent?Has their wisdom decayed?

And he said unto me, These waters issue out toward the east district, and go down into the plain, and go into the sea; when they are brought forth into the sea, the waters thereof shall be healed.

And to these shall be {the holy district}: to the priests northwards twenty-five thousand [cubits], and westwards [its] width ten thousand [cubits], and eastwards [its] width ten thousand [cubits], and southwards its length twenty-five thousand [cubits], and the sanctuary of Yahweh shall be in the midst of it.

And the rest in [its] length {alongside} {the holy district}, ten thousand [cubits] eastwards and ten thousand westwards; and it shall be {alongside} {the holy district} and its yield shall be as food for the workers of the city.

All of the contribution, twenty-five thousand by twenty five thousand [cubits] square, you shall set apart [as] {the holy district} [along] with the property of the city.

And the rest [shall be] to the prince, {on both sides} {of the holy district} and of the property of the city {extending from} twenty-five thousand [cubits] [of the] contribution up to [the] boundary of [the] east, and westwards {extending} twenty-five thousand [cubits] to the boundary of [the] sea {alongside} [the] [tribal] portions. They shall be for the prince, and it shall be {the holy district}, and the sanctuary of the temple will be in its middle.

On that day—this is the Lord’s declaration—there will be an outcry from the Fish Gate,a wailing from the Second District,and a loud crashing from the hills.

"Wail, you who live in the market district, because all of the merchants will be crushed and all of their customers will be eliminated.
