“For both prophet and priest are polluted;Even in My house I have found their wickedness,” declares the Lord.

“Behold, the storm of the Lord has gone forth in wrath,Even a whirling tempest;It will swirl down on the head of the wicked.

How long? Is there anything in the hearts of the prophets who prophesy falsehood, even these prophets of the deception of their own heart,

“Also her mercenaries in her midstAre like fattened calves,For even they too have turned back and have fled away together;They did not stand their ground.For the day of their calamity has come upon them,The time of their punishment.

“They have cut down her forest,” declares the Lord;“Surely it will no more be found,Even though they are now more numerous than locustsAnd are without number.

The Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, says, “Behold, I am going to punish Amon of Thebes, and Pharaoh, and Egypt along with her gods and her kings, even Pharaoh and those who trust in him.

“So gladness and joy are taken awayFrom the fruitful field, even from the land of Moab.And I have made the wine to cease from the wine presses;No one will tread them with shouting,The shouting will not be shouts of joy.

From the outcry at Heshbon even to Elealeh, even to Jahaz they have raised their voice, from Zoar even to Horonaim and to Eglath-shelishiyah; for even the waters of Nimrim will become desolate.

“The one who flees from the terrorWill fall into the pit,And the one who climbs up out of the pitWill be caught in the snare;For I shall bring upon her, even upon Moab,The year of their punishment,” declares the Lord.

Therefore hear the plan of the Lord which He has planned against Edom, and His purposes which He has purposed against the inhabitants of Teman: surely they will drag them off, even the little ones of the flock; surely He will make their pasture desolate because of them.

“They will not take from you even a stone for a cornerNor a stone for foundations,But you will be desolate forever,” declares the Lord.

And he will make a firm covenant with the many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and grain offering; and on the wing of abominations will come one who makes desolate, even until a complete destruction, one that is decreed, is poured out on the one who makes desolate.”

Then the king of the North will come, cast up a siege ramp and capture a well-fortified city; and the forces of the South will not stand their ground, not even their choicest troops, for there will be no strength to make a stand.

Then the Lord said to me, “Go again, love a woman who is loved by her husband, yet an adulteress, even as the Lord loves the sons of Israel, though they turn to other gods and love raisin cakes.”

For I will be like a lion to EphraimAnd like a young lion to the house of Judah.I, even I, will tear to pieces and go away,I will carry away, and there will be none to deliver.

For from Israel is even this!A craftsman made it, so it is not God;Surely the calf of Samaria will be broken to pieces.

Even though they hire allies among the nations,Now I will gather them up;And they will begin to diminishBecause of the burden of the king of princes.

Even the Lord, the God of hosts,The Lord is His name.

How the beasts groan!The herds of cattle wander aimlesslyBecause there is no pasture for them;Even the flocks of sheep suffer.

Even the beasts of the field pant for You;For the water brooks are dried upAnd fire has devoured the pastures of the wilderness.

Who knows whether He will not turn and relentAnd leave a blessing behind Him,Even a grain offering and a drink offeringFor the Lord your God?

Even on the male and female servantsI will pour out My Spirit in those days.

“And it will come about that whoever calls on the name of the LordWill be delivered;For on Mount Zion and in JerusalemThere will be those who escape,As the Lord has said,Even among the survivors whom the Lord calls.

“I will also cut off the inhabitant from Ashdod,And him who holds the scepter, from Ashkelon;I will even unleash My power upon Ekron,And the remnant of the Philistines will perish,”Says the Lord God.

“Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them,Though his height was like the height of cedarsAnd he was strong as the oaks;I even destroyed his fruit above and his root below.

Even the bravest among the warriors will flee naked in that day,” declares the Lord.

Therefore, thus says the Lord God,“An enemy, even one surrounding the land,Will pull down your strength from youAnd your citadels will be looted.”

Will not the day of the Lord be darkness instead of light,Even gloom with no brightness in it?
