'Eyes' in the Bible

When they lifted up their eyes at a distance and did not recognize him, they raised their voices and wept. And each of them tore his robe and they threw dust over their heads toward the sky.

Because it did not shut the opening of my mother’s womb,Or hide trouble from my eyes.

“It stood still, but I could not discern its appearance;A form was before my eyes;There was silence, then I heard a voice:

“The eye of him who sees me will behold me no longer;Your eyes will be on me, but I will not be.

‘Have You eyes of flesh?Or do You see as a man sees?

“For you have said, ‘My teaching is pure,And I am innocent in your eyes.’

“But the eyes of the wicked will fail,And there will be no escape for them;And their hope is to breathe their last.”

“You also open Your eyes on himAnd bring him into judgment with Yourself.

“Why does your heart carry you away?And why do your eyes flash,

“He who informs against friends for a share of the spoil,The eyes of his children also will languish.

“Why are we regarded as beasts,As stupid in your eyes?

Whom I myself shall behold,And whom my eyes will see and not another.My heart faints within me!

“Their descendants are established with them in their sight,And their offspring before their eyes,

“Let his own eyes see his decay,And let him drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

“He provides them with security, and they are supported;And His eyes are on their ways.

“He lies down rich, but never again;He opens his eyes, and it is no longer.

“Thus it is hidden from the eyes of all livingAnd concealed from the birds of the sky.

“I was eyes to the blindAnd feet to the lame.

“I have made a covenant with my eyes;How then could I gaze at a virgin?

“If my step has turned from the way,Or my heart followed my eyes,Or if any spot has stuck to my hands,

“If I have kept the poor from their desire,Or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail,

Then these three men ceased answering Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.

“For His eyes are upon the ways of a man,And He sees all his steps.

“He does not withdraw His eyes from the righteous;But with kings on the throneHe has seated them forever, and they are exalted.

“From there he spies out food;His eyes see it from afar.

“His sneezes flash forth light,And his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning.
