'Foes' in the Bible

A psalm of David when he fled from his son Absalom.Lord, how my foes increase!There are many who attack me.

Lead me, Jehovah, in thy righteousness, because of my foes; make thy way plain before me.

Out of the mouths of infants and nursing babes You have established strengthBecause of Your adversaries,That You might silence the enemy and make the revengeful cease.

His ways prosper at all times;Your judgments [Lord] are on high, out of his sight [so he never thinks about them];As for all his enemies, he sneers at them.

My enemy will say, “I have triumphed over him,”and my foes will rejoice because I am shaken.

You give me strength for battle; you make my foes kneel before me.

Many [enemies like] bulls have surrounded me;Strong bulls of Bashan have encircled me.

When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

Teach me Your way, O Lord,And lead me in a level pathBecause of my foes.

Do not give me over to the will of my foes,for false witnesses rise up against me,breathing violence.

{A Psalm and Song at the dedication of the house of David.} I will extol thee, O LORD; for thou hast lifted me up, and hast not made my foes to rejoice over me.

My times are in Your hands;Rescue me from the hand of my enemies and from those who pursue and persecute me.

Do not let those who are wrongfully my enemies rejoice over me;Nor let those who hate me without cause wink their eye [maliciously].

Judge me, O Lord my God, according to Your righteousness and justice;And do not let them rejoice over me.

Through You we drive back our foes;through Your name we trample our enemies.

But You give us victory over our foesand let those who hate us be disgraced.

Why should I fear in times of trouble?The iniquity of my foes surrounds me.

He will recompense the evil to my foes;Destroy them in Your faithfulness.

My foes have trampled upon me all day long,For they are many who fight proudly against me.

My God in His lovingkindness will meet me;God will let me look triumphantly upon my foes.

With God we will perform valiantly;He will trample our foes.

Come and see the works of God,He is awesome in His deeds toward the children of men.

You have ascended on high, You have led away captive Your captives;You have received gifts among men,Even from the rebellious also, that the Lord God may dwell there.

Deliver me from the mire and do not let me sink;May I be delivered from my foes and from the deep waters.

He beat back His foes;He gave them lasting shame.

I would quickly subdue their enemiesand turn My hand against their foes.”

And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.

You have lifted high the right hand of his foes;You have made all his enemies rejoice.

And my eye has looked exultantly upon my foes,My ears hear of the evildoers who rise up against me.

Fire goes before Himand burns up His foes on every side.

The Lord made His people very fruitful;He made them more numerous than their foes,

Water covered their foes;not one of them remained.

Their enemies also oppressed them,And they were subdued under the [powerful] hand of their enemies.

With God we will perform valiantly;He will trample our foes.

The Lord will send the scepter of Your strength from Zion, saying,“Rule in the midst of Your enemies.”

His heart is assured; he will not fear.In the end he will look in triumph on his foes.

My anger overwhelms mebecause my foes forget Your words.

You are near, O Lord,And all Your commandments are truth.

My persecutors and foes are many.I have not turned from Your decrees.

and rescued us from our foes.        His love is eternal.
