'Hoping' in the Bible

You fast with contention and strifeto strike viciously with your fist.You cannot fast as you do today,hoping to make your voice heard on high.

Herod was very glad to see Jesus; for a long time he had wanted to see Him because he had heard about Him and was hoping to see some miracle performed by Him.

But we were hoping that He was the One who was about to redeem Israel. Besides all this, it’s the third day since these things happened.

At the same time he was also hoping that money would be given to him by Paul. For this reason he sent for him quite often and conversed with him.

Since the harbor was unsuitable to winter in, the majority decided to set sail from there, hoping somehow to reach Phoenix, a harbor on Crete open to the southwest and northwest, and to winter there.
