They will come, and each king will set up his throne
at the entrance to Jerusalems gates.
They will attack all her surrounding walls

“Raise a banner toward Zion [to mark the way for those seeking safety inside Jerusalems walls]!
Seek refuge, do not stand [immobile],
For I am bringing evil from the north (the army of Babylon),
And great destruction.

Cleanse your heart from wickedness, Jerusalem, so that you may be saved. {How long} will your thoughts of mischief dwell in your inner part?


“Go up through the rows of Jerusalems vineyards and destroy [them],
But do not completely destroy everything.
Strip away her branches and the tendrils [of her vines],

Judah mourns;
her gates languish.

They commit adultery and walk in lies.

Jerusalem's gates collapsed to the ground; he destroyed and broke the bars of her gates. Both king and prince have gone into captivity. There is no instruction, and the prophets receive no vision from the LORD.

(Yod) The elders of Daughter Zion sit on the ground in silence. They have thrown dirt on their heads; They have dressed in sackcloth. Jerusalem's young women stare down at the ground.
