'Know' in the Bible
Which of all these does not knowthat the hand of the Lord has done this?
Everything you know, I also know;I am not inferior to you.
Now then, I have prepared my case;I know that I am right.
If his sons receive honor, he does not know it;if they become insignificant, he is unaware of it.
What do you know that we don’t?What do you understand that is not clear to us?
Indeed, such is the dwelling of the unjust man,and this is the place of the one who does not know God.
But I know my living Redeemer,and He will stand on the dust at last.
then be afraid of the sword,because wrath brings punishment by the sword,so that you may know there is a judgment.
Don’t you know that ever since antiquity,from the time man was placed on earth,
he will vanish forever like his own dung.Those who know him will ask, “Where is he?”
Yet they say to God: “Leave us alone!We don’t want to know Your ways.
God reserves a person’s punishment for his children.Let God repay the person himself, so that he may know it.
I know your thoughts very well,the schemes you would wrong me with.
Why does the Almighty not reserve times for judgment?Why do those who know Him never see His days?
No man can know its value,since it cannot be found in the land of the living.
Yes, I know that You will lead me to death—the place appointed for all who live.
So Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite replied:I am young in years,while you are old;therefore I was timid and afraidto tell you what I know.
Therefore I say, “Listen to me.I too will declare what I know.”
I too will answer;yes, I will tell what I know.
For I do not know how to give such titles;otherwise, my Maker would remove me in an instant.
My words come from my upright heart,and my lips speak with sincerity what they know.
Should God repay you on your termswhen you have rejected His?You must choose, not I!So declare what you know.
serve as His sign to all mankind,so that all men may know His work.
Do you know how God directs His cloudsor makes their lightning flash?
Who fixed its dimensions? Certainly you know!Who stretched a measuring line across it?
Have you comprehended the extent of the earth?Tell Me, if you know all this.
Where is the road to the home of light?Do you know where darkness lives,
Don’t you know? You were already born;you have lived so long!
Do you know the laws of heaven?Can you impose its authority on earth?
Do you know when mountain goats give birth?Have you watched the deer in labor?
Can you count the months they are pregnantso you can know the time they give birth?
I know that You can do anythingand no plan of Yours can be thwarted.
You asked, “Who is this who conceals My counsel with ignorance?”Surely I spoke about things I did not understand,things too wonderful for me to know.
Know that the Lord has set apartthe faithful for Himself;the Lord will hear when I call to Him.
Those who know Your name trust in Youbecause You have not abandonedthose who seek You, Yahweh.
Put terror in them, Lord;let the nations know they are only men.Selah
Now I know that the Lord gives victory to His anointed;He will answer him from His holy heavenwith mighty victories from His right hand.
Malicious witnesses come forward;they question me about things I do not know.
But when I stumbled, they gathered in glee;they gathered against me.Assailants I did not knowtore at me and did not stop.
Spread Your faithful love over those who know You,and Your righteousness over the upright in heart.
“Lord, reveal to me the end of my lifeand the number of my days.Let me know how short-lived I am.
I proclaim righteousness in the great assembly;see, I do not keep my mouth closed—as You know, Lord.
By this I know that You delight in me:my enemy does not shout in triumph over me.
“Stop your fighting—and know that I am God,exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth.”
I know every bird of the mountains,and the creatures of the field are Mine.
Then my enemies will retreat on the day when I call.This I know: God is for me.
Consume them in rage;consume them until they are gone.Then people will know throughout the earththat God rules over Jacob.Selah
God, You know my foolishness,and my guilty acts are not hidden from You.
You know the insults I endure—my shame and disgrace.You are aware of all my adversaries.
The wicked say, “How can God know?Does the Most High know everything?”
so that a future generation—children yet to be born—might know.They were to rise and tell their children
They do not know or understand;they wander in darkness.All the foundations of the earth are shaken.
May they know that You alone—whose name is Yahweh—are the Most High over all the earth.
“I will mention those who know Me:Rahab, Babylon, Philistia, Tyre, and Cush—each one was born there.”
Happy are the people who know the joyful shout;Yahweh, they walk in the light of Your presence.
A stupid person does not know,a fool does not understand this:
For 40 years I was disgusted with that generation;I said, “They are a people whose hearts go astray;they do not know My ways.”
so they may know that this is Your handand that You, Lord, have done it.
I know, Lord, that Your judgments are justand that You have afflicted me fairly.
Let those who fear You,those who know Your decrees, turn to me.
I am Your servant; give me understandingso that I may know Your decrees.
For I know that Yahweh is great;our Lord is greater than all gods.
You know when I sit down and when I stand up;You understand my thoughts from far away.
Before a word is on my tongue,You know all about it, Lord.
I will praise Youbecause I have been remarkably and wonderfully made.Your works are wonderful,and I know this very well.
Search me, God, and know my heart;test me and know my concerns.
I know that the Lord upholdsthe just cause of the poor,justice for the needy.
Although my spirit is weak within me,You know my way.Along this path I travelthey have hidden a trap for me.
He has not done this for any nation;they do not know His judgments.Hallelujah!
But the way of the wicked is like the darkest gloom;they don’t know what makes them stumble.
She doesn’t consider the path of life;she doesn’t know that her ways are unstable.
until an arrow pierces its liver,like a bird darting into a snare—he doesn’t know it will cost him his life.
But he doesn’t know that the departed spirits are there,that her guests are in the depths of Sheol.
The lips of the righteous know what is appropriate,but the mouth of the wicked, only what is perverse. >
“They struck me, but I feel no pain!They beat me, but I didn’t know it!When will I wake up?I’ll look for another drink.” >
If you say, “But we didn’t know about this,”won’t He who weighs hearts consider it?Won’t He who protects your life know?Won’t He repay a person according to his work?
Don’t boast about tomorrow,for you don’t know what a day might bring.
Know well the condition of your flock,and pay attention to your herds,
A greedy man is in a hurry for wealth;he doesn’t know that poverty will come to him.
Who has gone up to heaven and come down?Who has gathered the wind in His hands?Who has bound up the waters in a cloak?Who has established all the ends of the earth?What is His name,and what is the name of His Son—if you know?
I applied my mind to know wisdom and knowledge, madness and folly; I learned that this too is a pursuit of the wind.
I know that there is nothing better for them than to rejoice and enjoy the good life.
I know that all God does will last forever; there is no adding to it or taking from it. God works so that people will be in awe of Him.
for you know that many times you yourself have cursed others.
I turned my thoughts to know, explore, and seek wisdom and an explanation for things, and to know that wickedness is stupidity and folly is madness.
Although a sinner commits crime a hundred times and prolongs his life, yet I also know that it will go well with God-fearing people, for they are reverent before Him.
When I applied my mind to know wisdom and to observe the activity that is done on the earth (even though one’s eyes do not close in sleep day or night),
I observed all the work of God and concluded that man is unable to discover the work that is done under the sun. Even though a man labors hard to explore it, he cannot find it; even if the wise man claims to know it, he is unable to discover it.
Indeed, I took all this to heart and explained it all: the righteous, the wise, and their works are in God’s hands.People don’t know whether to expect love or hate. Everything lies ahead of them.
For the living know that they will die, but the dead don’t know anything. There is no longer a reward for them because the memory of them is forgotten.
For man certainly does not know his time: like fish caught in a cruel net or like birds caught in a trap, so people are trapped in an evil time as it suddenly falls on them.
The struggles of fools weary them,for they don’t know how to go to the city.
Give a portion to seven or even to eight,for you don’t know what disaster may happen on earth.
Just as you don’t know the path of the wind,or how bones develop in the womb of a pregnant woman,so you don’t know the work of God who makes everything.
