'Know' in the Bible
We know that God has spoken to Moses. But this man—we don’t know where He’s from!”
“This is an amazing thing,” the man told them. “You don’t know where He is from, yet He opened my eyes!
We know that God doesn’t listen to sinners, but if anyone is God-fearing and does His will, He listens to him.
“I am the good shepherd. I know My own sheep, and they know Me,
as the Father knows Me, and I know the Father. I lay down My life for the sheep.
My sheep hear My voice, I know them, and they follow Me.
But if I am doing them and you don’t believe Me, believe the works. This way you will know and understand that the Father is in Me and I in the Father.”
Yet even now I know that whatever You ask from God, God will give You.”
Martha said, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”
I know that You always hear Me, but because of the crowd standing here I said this, so they may believe You sent Me.”
One of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all!
Jesus answered, “The light will be with you only a little longer. Walk while you have the light so that darkness doesn’t overtake you. The one who walks in darkness doesn’t know where he’s going.
I know that His command is eternal life. So the things that I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me.”
Jesus answered him, “What I’m doing you don’t understand now, but afterward you will know.”
When Jesus had washed their feet and put on His robe, He reclined again and said to them, “Do you know what I have done for you?
If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.
I’m not speaking about all of you; I know those I have chosen. But the Scripture must be fulfilled: The one who eats My bread has raised his heel against Me.
By this all people will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”
“Lord,” Thomas said, “we don’t know where You’re going. How can we know the way?”
“If you know Me, you will also know My Father. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him.”
He is the Spirit of truth. The world is unable to receive Him because it doesn’t see Him or know Him. But you do know Him, because He remains with you and will be in you.
In that day you will know that I am in My Father, you are in Me, and I am in you.
On the contrary, I am going away so that the world may know that I love the Father. Just as the Father commanded Me, so I do.“Get up; let’s leave this place.
I do not call you slaves anymore, because a slave doesn’t know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have made known to you everything I have heard from My Father.
But they will do all these things to you on account of My name, because they don’t know the One who sent Me.
They said, “What is this He is saying, ‘A little while’? We don’t know what He’s talking about!”
Now we know that You know everything and don’t need anyone to question You. By this we believe that You came from God.”
This is eternal life:that they may know You, the only true God,and the One You have sent—Jesus Christ.
Now they know that all thingsYou have given to Me are from You,
I am in them and You are in Me.May they be made completely one,so the world may know You have sent Meand have loved them as You have loved Me.
Why do you question Me? Question those who heard what I told them. Look, they know what I said.”
Pilate went outside again and said to them, “Look, I’m bringing Him outside to you to let you know I find no grounds for charging Him.”
So Pilate said to Him, “You’re not talking to me? Don’t You know that I have the authority to release You and the authority to crucify You?”
So she ran to Simon Peter and to the other disciple, the one Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we don’t know where they have put Him!”
They said to her, “Woman, why are you crying?”“Because they’ve taken away my Lord,” she told them, “and I don’t know where they’ve put Him.”
Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, though she did not know it was Jesus.
When daybreak came, Jesus stood on the shore. However, the disciples did not know it was Jesus.
When they had eaten breakfast, Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these?”“Yes, Lord,” he said to Him, “You know that I love You.”“Feed My lambs,” He told him.
A second time He asked him, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?”“Yes, Lord,” he said to Him, “You know that I love You.”“Shepherd My sheep,” He told him.
He asked him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love Me?”Peter was grieved that He asked him the third time, “Do you love Me?” He said, “Lord, You know everything! You know that I love You.”“Feed My sheep,” Jesus said.
This is the disciple who testifies to these things and who wrote them down. We know that his testimony is true.
He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or periods that the Father has set by His own authority.
Then they prayed, “You, Lord, know the hearts of all; show which of these two You have chosen
“Men of Israel, listen to these words: This Jesus the Nazarene was a man pointed out to you by God with miracles, wonders, and signs that God did among you through Him, just as you yourselves know.
“Therefore let all the house of Israel know with certainty that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah!”
By faith in His name, His name has made this man strong, whom you see and know. So the faith that comes through Him has given him this perfect health in front of all of you.
“And now, brothers, I know that you did it in ignorance, just as your leaders also did.
until a different king who did not know Joseph ruled over Egypt.
They told Aaron:Make us gods who will go before us. As for this Moses who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we don’t know what’s happened to him.
Peter said to them, “You know it’s forbidden for a Jewish man to associate with or visit a foreigner. But God has shown me that I must not call any person common or unclean.
You know the events that took place throughout Judea, beginning from Galilee after the baptism that John preached:
So he went out and followed, and he did not know that what took place through the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision.
Then Peter came to himself and said, “Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent His angel and rescued me from Herod’s grasp and from all that the Jewish people expected.”
For what you say sounds strange to us, and we want to know what these ideas mean.”
The evil spirit answered them, “I know Jesus, and I recognize Paul—but who are you?”
When he had assembled them, as well as the workers engaged in this type of business, he said: “Men, you know that our prosperity is derived from this business.
Meanwhile, some were shouting one thing and some another, because the assembly was in confusion, and most of them did not know why they had come together.
However, when the city clerk had calmed the crowd down, he said, “Men of Ephesus! What man is there who doesn’t know that the city of the Ephesians is the temple guardian of the great Artemis, and of the image that fell from heaven?
And when they came to him, he said to them: “You know, from the first day I set foot in Asia, how I was with you the whole time—
“And now I know that none of you will ever see my face again—everyone I went about preaching the kingdom to.
I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock.
You yourselves know that these hands have provided for my needs and for those who were with me.
Take these men, purify yourself along with them, and pay for them to get their heads shaved. Then everyone will know that what they were told about you amounts to nothing, but that you yourself are also careful about observing the law.
As he was about to be brought into the barracks, Paul said to the commander, “Am I allowed to say something to you?”He replied, “Do you know Greek?
Then he said, ‘The God of our fathers has appointed you to know His will, to see the Righteous One, and to hear the sound of His voice.
“But I said, ‘Lord, they know that in synagogue after synagogue I had those who believed in You imprisoned and beaten.
“I did not know, brothers, that he was the high priest,” replied Paul. “For it is written, You must not speak evil of a ruler of your people.”
Wanting to know the charge they were accusing him of, I brought him down before their Sanhedrin.
When the governor motioned to him to speak, Paul replied: “Because I know you have been a judge of this nation for many years, I am glad to offer my defense in what concerns me.
“All the Jews know my way of life from my youth, which was spent from the beginning among my own nation and in Jerusalem.
King Agrippa, do you believe the prophets? I know you believe.”
Now I want you to know, brothers, that I often planned to come to you (but was prevented until now) in order that I might have a fruitful ministry among you, just as among the rest of the Gentiles.
Although they know full well God’s just sentence—that those who practice such things deserve to die—they not only do them, but even applaud others who practice them.
We know that God’s judgment on those who do such things is based on the truth.
know His will, and approve the things that are superior, being instructed from the law,
Now we know that whatever the law says speaks to those who are subject to the law, so that every mouth may be shut and the whole world may become subject to God’s judgment.
And not only that, but we also rejoice in our afflictions, because we know that affliction produces endurance,
For we know that our old self was crucified with Him in order that sin’s dominion over the body may be abolished, so that we may no longer be enslaved to sin,
because we know that Christ, having been raised from the dead, will not die again. Death no longer rules over Him.
Don’t you know that if you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of that one you obey—either of sin leading to death or of obedience leading to righteousness?
For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am made out of flesh, sold into sin’s power.
For I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my flesh. For the desire to do what is good is with me, but there is no ability to do it.
For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together with labor pains until now.
In the same way the Spirit also joins to help in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with unspoken groanings.
We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.
God has not rejected His people whom He foreknew. Or don’t you know what the Scripture says in the passage about Elijah—how he pleads with God against Israel?
(I know and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean in itself. Still, to someone who considers a thing to be unclean, to that one it is unclean.)
I know that when I come to you, I will come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ.
I did, in fact, baptize the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don’t know if I baptized anyone else.
For since, in God’s wisdom, the world did not know God through wisdom, God was pleased to save those who believe through the foolishness of the message preached.
For I didn’t think it was a good idea to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast permeates the whole batch of dough?
Or don’t you know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest cases?
Don’t you know that we will judge angels—not to mention ordinary matters?
Don’t you know that the unrighteous will not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters, adulterers, or anyone practicing homosexuality,
