'Know' in the Bible
Do you not know that the Lord God of Israel gave the rule over Israel forever to David and his sons by a covenant of salt?
O our God, will You not judge them? For we are powerless before this great multitude who are coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on You.”
As he was talking with him, the king said to him, “Have we appointed you a royal counselor? Stop! Why should you be struck down?” Then the prophet stopped and said, “I know that God has planned to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.”
Do you not know what I and my fathers have done to all the peoples of the lands? Were the gods of the nations of the lands able at all to deliver their land from my hand?
Even in the matter of the envoys of the rulers of Babylon, who sent to him to inquire of the wonder that had happened in the land, God left him alone only to test him, that He might know all that was in his heart.
“You, Ezra, according to the wisdom of your God which is in your hand, appoint magistrates and judges that they may judge all the people who are in the province beyond the River, even all those who know the laws of your God; and you may teach anyone who is ignorant of them.
The officials did not know where I had gone or what I had done; nor had I as yet told the Jews, the priests, the nobles, the officials or the rest who did the work.
Our enemies said, “They will not know or see until we come among them, kill them and put a stop to the work.”
“Then You performed signs and wonders against Pharaoh,Against all his servants and all the people of his land;For You knew that they acted arrogantly toward them,And made a name for Yourself as it is this day.
“All the king’s servants and the people of the king’s provinces know that for any man or woman who comes to the king to the inner court who is not summoned, he has but one law, that he be put to death, unless the king holds out to him the golden scepter so that he may live. And I have not been summoned to come to the king for these thirty days.”
“You will know that your tent is secure,For you will visit your abode and fear no loss.
“You will know also that your descendants will be many,And your offspring as the grass of the earth.

“They are high as the heavens, what can you do?Deeper than Sheol, what can you know?
“But I have intelligence as well as you;I am not inferior to you.And who does not know such things as these?
“Who among all these does not knowThat the hand of the Lord has done this,
“What you know I also know;I am not inferior to you.
“Behold now, I have prepared my case;I know that I will be vindicated.
“His sons achieve honor, but he does not know it;Or they become insignificant, but he does not perceive it.
“What do you know that we do not know?What do you understand that we do not?
“Surely such are the dwellings of the wicked,And this is the place of him who does not know God.”
Know then that God has wronged meAnd has closed His net around me.
“As for me, I know that my Redeemer lives,And at the last He will take His stand on the earth.
“Then be afraid of the sword for yourselves,For wrath brings the punishment of the sword,So that you may know there is judgment.”
“Do you know this from of old,From the establishment of man on earth,
“You say, ‘God stores away a man’s iniquity for his sons.’Let God repay him so that he may know it.
“Behold, I know your thoughts,And the plans by which you would wrong me.
“Why are times not stored up by the Almighty,And why do those who know Him not see His days?
“Others have been with those who rebel against the light;They do not want to know its waysNor abide in its paths.
“In the dark they dig into houses,They shut themselves up by day;They do not know the light.
“Man does not know its value,Nor is it found in the land of the living.
“I was a father to the needy,And I investigated the case which I did not know.
“For I know that You will bring me to deathAnd to the house of meeting for all living.
Let Him weigh me with accurate scales,And let God know my integrity.
“For I do not know how to flatter,Else my Maker would soon take me away.
“Hear my words, you wise men,And listen to me, you who know.
“Let us choose for ourselves what is right;Let us know among ourselves what is good.
“Shall He recompense on your terms, because you have rejected it?For you must choose, and not I;Therefore declare what you know.
“Behold, God is exalted, and we do not know Him;The number of His years is unsearchable.
“He seals the hand of every man,That all men may know His work.
“Do you know how God establishes them,And makes the lightning of His cloud to shine?
“Do you know about the layers of the thick clouds,The wonders of one perfect in knowledge,
Who set its measurements? Since you know.Or who stretched the line on it?
“Have you ever in your life commanded the morning,And caused the dawn to know its place,
“Have you understood the expanse of the earth?Tell Me, if you know all this.
“You know, for you were born then,And the number of your days is great!
“Do you know the ordinances of the heavens,Or fix their rule over the earth?
“Do you know the time the mountain goats give birth?Do you observe the calving of the deer?
“Can you count the months they fulfill,Or do you know the time they give birth?
“I know that You can do all things,And that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.
‘Who is this that hides counsel without knowledge?’Therefore I have declared that which I did not understand,Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.”
But know that the Lord has set apart the godly man for Himself;The Lord hears when I call to Him.
And those who know Your name will put their trust in You,For You, O Lord, have not forsaken those who seek You.
Put them in fear, O Lord;Let the nations know that they are but men. Selah.
Do all the workers of wickedness not know,Who eat up my people as they eat bread,And do not call upon the Lord?
Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed;He will answer him from His holy heavenWith the saving strength of His right hand.
Make me know Your ways, O Lord;Teach me Your paths.
The secret of the Lord is for those who fear Him,And He will make them know His covenant.
Malicious witnesses rise up;They ask me of things that I do not know.
But at my stumbling they rejoiced and gathered themselves together;The smiters whom I did not know gathered together against me,They slandered me without ceasing.
O continue Your lovingkindness to those who know You,And Your righteousness to the upright in heart.
“Lord, make me to know my endAnd what is the extent of my days;Let me know how transient I am.
“Surely every man walks about as a phantom;Surely they make an uproar for nothing;He amasses riches and does not know who will gather them.
By this I know that You are pleased with me,Because my enemy does not shout in triumph over me.
“Cease striving and know that I am God;I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”
“I know every bird of the mountains,And everything that moves in the field is Mine.
For I know my transgressions,And my sin is ever before me.
Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being,And in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom.
Then my enemies will turn back in the day when I call;This I know, that God is for me.
Destroy them in wrath, destroy them that they may be no more;That men may know that God rules in JacobTo the ends of the earth. Selah.
O God, it is You who knows my folly,And my wrongs are not hidden from You.
You know my reproach and my shame and my dishonor;All my adversaries are before You.
My mouth shall tell of Your righteousnessAnd of Your salvation all day long;For I do not know the sum of them.
They say, “How does God know?And is there knowledge with the Most High?”
That the generation to come might know, even the children yet to be born,That they may arise and tell them to their children,
Pour out Your wrath upon the nations which do not know You,And upon the kingdoms which do not call upon Your name.
He established it for a testimony in JosephWhen he went throughout the land of Egypt.I heard a language that I did not know:
They do not know nor do they understand;They walk about in darkness;All the foundations of the earth are shaken.
That they may know that You alone, whose name is the Lord,Are the Most High over all the earth.
“I shall mention Rahab and Babylon among those who know Me;Behold, Philistia and Tyre with Ethiopia:‘This one was born there.’”
How blessed are the people who know the joyful sound!O Lord, they walk in the light of Your countenance.
“For forty years I loathed that generation,And said they are a people who err in their heart,And they do not know My ways.
Know that the Lord Himself is God;It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.
