'Life' in the Bible
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep:
as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for the sheep.
On this account the Father loves me, because I lay down my life that I may take it again.
and I give them life eternal; and they shall never perish, and no one shall seize them out of my hand.
Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life: he that believes on me, though he have died, shall live;
He that loves his life shall lose it, and he that hates his life in this world shall keep it to life eternal.
and I know that his commandment is life eternal. What therefore I speak, as the Father has said to me, so I speak.
Peter says to him, Lord, why cannot I follow thee now? I will lay down my life for thee.
Jesus answers, Thou wilt lay down thy life for me! Verily, verily, I say to thee, The cock shall not crow till thou hast denied me thrice.
Jesus says to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father unless by me.
No one has greater love than this, that one should lay down his life for his friends.
as thou hast given him authority over all flesh, that as to all that thou hast given to him, he should give them life eternal.
And this is the eternal life, that they should know thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.
but these are written that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye might have life in his name.
Thou hast made known to me the paths of life, thou wilt fill me with joy with thy countenance.
but the originator of life ye slew, whom God raised from among the dead, whereof we are witnesses.
Go ye and stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.
In his humiliation his judgment has been taken away, and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
And when they heard these things they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then indeed God has to the nations also granted repentance to life.
And Paul and Barnabas spoke boldly and said, It was necessary that the word of God should be first spoken to you; but, since ye thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the nations;
And those of the nations, hearing it, rejoiced, and glorified the word of the Lord, and believed, as many as were ordained to eternal life.
nor is served by men's hands as needing something, himself giving to all life and breath and all things;
But Paul descending fell upon him, and enfolding him in his arms, said, Be not troubled, for his life is in him.
But I make no account of my life as dear to myself, so that I finish my course, and the ministry which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the glad tidings of the grace of God.
My manner of life then from my youth, which from its commencement was passed among my nation in Jerusalem, know all the Jews,
who knew me before from the outset of my life, if they would bear witness, that according to the strictest sect of our religion I lived a Pharisee.
And now I exhort you to be of good courage, for there shall be no loss at all of life of any of you, only of the ship.
to them who, in patient continuance of good works, seek for glory and honour and incorruptibility, life eternal.
For if, being enemies, we have been reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much rather, having been reconciled, we shall be saved in the power of his life.
For if by the offence of the one death reigned by the one, much rather shall those who receive the abundance of grace, and of the free gift of righteousness, reign in life by the one Jesus Christ:)
so then as it was by one offence towards all men to condemnation, so by one righteousness towards all men for justification of life.
in order that, even as sin has reigned in the power of death, so also grace might reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
We have been buried therefore with him by baptism unto death, in order that, even as Christ has been raised up from among the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also should walk in newness of life.
But now, having got your freedom from sin, and having become bondmen to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end eternal life.
For the wages of sin is death; but the act of favour of God, eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
And the commandment, which was for life, was found, as to me, itself to be unto death:
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and of death.
For the mind of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit life and peace.
but if Christ be in you, the body is dead on account of sin, but the Spirit life on account of righteousness.
For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
Lord, they have killed thy prophets, they have dug down thine altars; and I have been left alone, and they seek my life.
For if their casting away be the world's reconciliation, what their reception but life from among the dead?
(who for my life staked their own neck; to whom not I only am thankful, but also all the assemblies of the nations,)
Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things coming, all are yours;
Do ye not know that we shall judge angels? and not then matters of this life?
If then ye have judgments as to things of this life, set those to judge who are little esteemed in the assembly.
If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are the most miserable of all men.
to the one an odour from death unto death, but to the others an odour from life unto life; and who is sufficient for these things?
always bearing about in the body the dying of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our body;
for we who live are always delivered unto death on account of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh;
so that death works in us, but life in you.
For indeed we who are in the tabernacle groan, being burdened; while yet we do not wish to be unclothed, but clothed, that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.
For he that sows to his own flesh, shall reap corruption from the flesh; but he that sows to the Spirit, from the Spirit shall reap eternal life:
being darkened in understanding, estranged from the life of God by reason of the ignorance which is in them, by reason of the hardness of their hearts,
according to my earnest expectation and hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but in all boldness, as always, now also Christ shall be magnified in my body whether by life or by death.
holding forth the word of life, so as to be a boast for me in Christ's day, that I have not run in vain nor laboured in vain.
because for the sake of the work he drew near even to death, venturing his life that he might fill up what lacked in your ministration toward me.
yea, I ask thee also, true yokefellow, assist them, who have contended along with me in the glad tidings, with Clement also, and my other fellow-labourers, whose names are in the book of life.
for ye have died, and your life is hid with the Christ in God.
When the Christ is manifested who is our life, then shall ye also be manifested with him in glory.
But for this reason mercy was shewn me, that in me, the first, Jesus Christ might display the whole long-suffering, for a delineation of those about to believe on him to life eternal.
for kings and all that are in dignity, that we may lead a quiet and tranquil life in all piety and gravity;
for bodily exercise is profitable for a little, but piety is profitable for everything, having promise of life, of the present one, and of that to come.
Strive earnestly in the good conflict of faith. Lay hold of eternal life, to which thou hast been called, and hast confessed the good confession before many witnesses.
I enjoin thee before God who preserves all things in life, and Christ Jesus who witnessed before Pontius Pilate the good confession,
laying by for themselves a good foundation for the future, that they may lay hold of what is really life.
Paul, apostle of Jesus Christ by God's will, according to promise of life, the life which is in Christ Jesus,

No one going as a soldier entangles himself with the affairs of life, that he may please him who has enlisted him as a soldier.

For he that will love life and see good days, let him cause his tongue to cease from evil and his lips that they speak no guile.
As his divine power has given to us all things which relate to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that has called us by glory and virtue,
and having reduced the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha to ashes, condemned them with an overthrow, setting them as an example to those that should afterwards live an ungodly life;
That which was from the beginning, that which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes; that which we contemplated, and our hands handled, concerning the word of life;
(and the life has been manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and report to you the eternal life, which was with the Father, and has been manifested to us:)
because all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
And this is the promise which he has promised us, life eternal.
We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren. He who does not love his brother abides in death.
Every one that hates his brother is a murderer, and ye know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.
Hereby we have known love, because he has laid down his life for us; and we ought for the brethren to lay down our lives.
And this is the witness, that God has given to us eternal life; and this life is in his Son.
He that has the Son has life: he that has not the Son of God has not life.
These things have I written to you that ye may know that ye have eternal life who believe on the name of the Son of God.
If any one see his brother sinning a sin not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life, for those that do not sin unto death. There is a sin to death: I do not say of that that he should make a request.
And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding that we should know him that is true; and we are in him that is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.
keep yourselves in the love of God, awaiting the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.
He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the assemblies. To him that overcomes, I will give to him to eat of the tree of life which is in the paradise of God.
Fear nothing of what thou art about to suffer. Behold, the devil is about to cast of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give to thee the crown of life.
He that overcomes, he shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot his name out of the book of life, and will confess his name before my Father and before his angels.
because the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall shepherd them, and shall lead them to fountains of waters of life, and God shall wipe away every tear from their eyes.
and the third part of the creatures which were in the sea which had life died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed.
And after the three days and a half the spirit of life from God came into them, and they stood upon their feet; and great fear fell upon those beholding them.
and they have overcome him by reason of the blood of the Lamb, and by reason of the word of their testimony, and have not loved their life even unto death.
