That they may keep you from the immoral woman,From the foreigner [who does not observe God’s laws and] who flatters with her [smooth] words.

Passing through the street near her corner;And he took the path to her house

Does not wisdom call,And understanding lift up her voice?

The mouth of an immoral woman is a deep pit [deep and inescapable];He who is cursed by the Lord [because of his adulterous sin] will fall into it.

Your [drunken] eyes will see strange thingsAnd your mind will utter perverse things [untrue things, twisted things].

Like the legs which are useless to the lame,So is a proverb in the mouth of a fool [who cannot learn from its wisdom].

Do not give your [generative] strength to women [neither foreign wives in marriages of alliances, nor concubines],Nor your ways to that which destroys kings.

As for all the hills which used to be cultivated with the pick and the hoe, you will no longer go there for fear of briars and thorns; but they will become a place where oxen are pastured and where sheep tread.
