'Man's' in the Bible
Their respect for a man's position is a witness against them; and their sin is open to the view of all; like that of Sodom, it is not covered. A curse on their soul! for the measure of their sin is full.
And the poor man's head is bent, and the great man goes down on his face, and the eyes of pride are put to shame:
And his voice will be loud over him in that day like the sounding of the sea: and if a man's eyes are turned to the earth, it is all dark and full of trouble; and the light is made dark by thick clouds.
Moreover the LORD said unto me, Take thee a great roll, and write in it with a man's pen concerning Mahershalalhashbaz.
The splendor of his forest and his orchard will be completely destroyed, as when a sick man's life ebbs away.
Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt:
In that day a man's heart will be turned to his Maker, and his eyes to the Holy One of Israel.
And look [at] this! A man's a chariot [is] coming, a pair of horsemen!" Then he responded and said, "It has fallen! Babylon has fallen! And all the images of her gods are smashed on the ground!"
Who give help to a man in a wrong cause, and who put a net for the feet of him who gives decisions in the public place, taking away a man's right without cause.
See, you are basing your hope on that broken rod of Egypt, which will go into a man's hand if he makes use of it for a support; for so is Pharaoh, king of Egypt, to all who put their faith in him.
Just as many were astonished and appalled at you, My people,So His appearance was marred more than any manAnd His form [marred] more than the sons of men.
They intended to bury him with criminals, but he ended up in a rich man's tomb, because he had committed no violent deeds, nor had he spoken deceitfully.
For the LORD has called you back like a wife deserted and grieved in spirit, like the wife of a man's youth when she is cast off," says the LORD your God.
For I will not be hostile forever or perpetually angry, for then man's spirit would grow faint before me, the life-giving breath I created.
Like this is the fast that I choose? The day of a man's afflicting his soul? To bow as a reed his head, And sackcloth and ashes spread out? This dost thou call a fast, And a desirable day -- to Jehovah?
They say, If a man put away his wife, and she go from him, and become another man's, shall he return unto her again? shall not that land be greatly polluted? but thou hast played the harlot with many lovers; yet return again to me, saith the LORD.
I know, Lord,that a man’s way of life is not his own;no one who walks determines his own steps.
For as a band goes tightly round a man's body, so I made all the people of Israel and all the people of Judah tightly united to me; so that they might be a people for me and a name and a praise and a glory: but they would not give ear.
Then they said, "Come, let's make up a plot against Jeremiah. After all, the priest's instruction, the wise man's counsel, and the prophet's message won't be destroyed. So let's verbally attack him. Pay no attention to anything he says!"
And the burden of the LORD shall ye mention no more: for every man's word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the LORD of hosts our God.
and he burned the house of Jehovah, and the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem; and every great man's house he burned with fire.
And as for the pillars, one pillar was eighteen cubits high, and twelve cubits measured all round, and it was as thick as a man's hand: it was hollow.
In a man's crushing under his feet all the prisoners of the earth,
Then he said unto me, Lo, I have given thee cow's dung for man's dung, and thou shalt prepare thy bread therewith.
And there appeared in the cherubims the form of a man's hand under their wings.
Every one had four faces and every one had four wings; and hands like a man's hands were under their wings.
A man’s foot will not pass through it, and the foot of a beast will not pass through it, and it will not be inhabited for forty years.
And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord GOD: every man's sword shall be against his brother.
And the passengers that pass through the land, when any seeth a man's bone, then shall he set up a sign by it, till the buriers have buried it in the valley of Hamongog.
And behold a wall on the outside of the house round about, and in the man's hand a measuring reed of six cubits long by the cubit and an hand breadth: so he measured the breadth of the building, one reed; and the height, one reed.
And they had edges all round as wide as a man's hand: and on the tables was the flesh of the offerings.
a man’s face toward the palm tree on one side and a young lion’s face toward the palm tree on the other side; they were carved on all the house all around.
"This is what the Lord GOD says: "If the Regent Prince gives a gift to someone, it is to remain with the man's descendants as their own inheritance.
Let his heart be changed from man's, and let a beast's heart be given unto him; and let seven times pass over him.
In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king's palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.
The first was like a lion, and had eagle's wings: I beheld till the wings thereof were plucked, and it was lifted up from the earth, and made stand upon the feet as a man, and a man's heart was given to it.
“While I was considering the horns, suddenly another horn, a little one, came up among them, and three of the first horns were uprooted before it. There were eyes in this horn like a man’s, and it had a mouth that spoke arrogantly.
And I heard a man's voice between the banks of Ulai, which called, and said, Gabriel, make this man to understand the vision.
And I said unto her, Thou shalt abide for me many days; thou shalt not play the harlot, and thou shalt not be another man's, and I will also be for thee.
Ephraim is oppressed, crushed in judgment,Because he was determined to follow man’s command.
And a man's uncle shall take him up, and he that burneth him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is by the sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall say, No. Then shall he say, Hold thy tongue: for we may not make mention of the name of the LORD.
Wherefore they cried unto the LORD, and said, We beseech thee, O LORD, we beseech thee, let us not perish for this man's life, and lay not upon us innocent blood: for thou, O LORD, hast done as it pleased thee.
For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies are the men of his own house.
Because thou hast spoiled many nations, Spoil thee do all the remnant of the peoples, Because of man's blood, and of violence to the land, To the city, and to all dwelling in it.
For violence to Lebanon doth cover thee, And spoil of beasts doth affright them, Because of man's blood, and of violence to the land, To the city, and to all dwelling in it.
And by my order no rain came on the land or on the mountains or the grain or the wine or the oil or the produce of the earth or on men or cattle or on any work of man's hands.
For before those days there was no payment for a man's work, or for the use of a beast, and there was no peace for him who went out or him who came in, because of the attacker: for I had every man turned against his neighbour.
And it will be on that day that a great fear will be sent among them from the Lord; and everyone will take his neighbour's hand, and every man's hand will be lifted against his neighbour's.
But he made answer and said, It is in the Writings, Bread is not man's only need, but every word which comes out of the mouth of God.
You have knowledge that it was said, You may not have connection with another man's wife:
And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.
He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.
Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.
Then off it goes and brings with it seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and settle down there. As a result, that man’s last condition is worse than the first. That’s how it will also be with this evil generation.”
It is not what goes into a man's mouth that defiles him; but it is what comes out of his mouth--*that* defiles a man."
But He turned and told Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me because you’re not thinking about God’s concerns, but man’s.”
And they sent to him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying, Master, we see that you are true, and that you are teaching the true way of God, and have no fear of anyone, because you have no respect for a man's position.
When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that a riot was starting instead, he took some water, washed his hands in front of the crowd, and said, “I am innocent of this man’s blood. See to it yourselves!”
And when they came to the place named Golgotha, that is to say, Dead Man's Head,
No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.
So He took him away from the crowd privately. After putting His fingers in the man’s ears and spitting, He touched his tongue.
The man's hearing and speech were restored at once, and he began to talk normally.
And he took hold of the blind man's hand [and] led him outside the village, and [after] spitting in his eyes, he placed his hands on him [and] asked him, "Do you see anything?"
Again Jesus placed His hands on the man’s eyes, and he saw distinctly. He was cured and could see everything clearly.
But turning around and looking at His disciples, He rebuked Peter and said, “Get behind Me, Satan, because you’re not thinking about God’s concerns, but man’s!”
But the man was saddened at Jesus’ words, and he left grieving, because he owned much property and had many possessions [which he treasured more than his relationship with God].
And when they had come, they said to him, Master, we are certain that you are true, and have no fear of anyone: you have no respect for a man's position, but you are teaching the true way of God: Is it right to give taxes to Caesar or not?
Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
For this perfume might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii [a laborer’s wages for almost a year], and the money given to the poor.” And they scolded her.
And they took him to the place named Golgotha, which is, Dead Man's Head.
And Jesus made answer to him, It has been said in the Writings, Bread is not man's only need.
Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.
When he arrived at the man's house, he allowed no one to go in with him except Peter, John, James, and the young girl's father and mother.
I tell you, even though the man inside will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of the first man's sheer persistence he will get up and give him whatever he needs.
But when a stronger man than he attacks and defeats him, the stronger man strips off that man's armor in which he trusted and then divides his plunder.
Then it goes and brings seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they enter and settle down there. As a result, that man’s last condition is worse than the first.”
And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
Then He told them a parable: “A rich man’s land was very productive.
And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?
And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man's table: moreover the dogs came and licked his sores.
And they asked him saying, Teacher, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, and acceptest no man's person, but teachest with truth the way of God:
Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die without children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
But Jesus said, "No more of this!" So he touched the wounded man's ear and healed him.
who were born, not merely in a genetic sense, nor from lust, nor from man's desire, but from the will of God.
Jesus said in answer, Truly, I say to you, If a man's birth is not from water and from the Spirit, it is not possible for him to go into the kingdom of God.
Don't be amazed at this, because the time is approaching when everyone in their graves will hear the Son of Man's voice
I don’t receive man’s testimony, but I say these things so that you may be saved.
Bestow your pains not on the food which perishes, but on the food that remains unto the Life of the Ages--that food which will be the Son of Man's gift to you; for on Him the Father, God, has set His seal."
If, to avoid breaking the Law of Moses, a man undergoes circumcision on the Sabbath, why are you angry with Me for making a man’s whole body well on the Sabbath?
They said to him in answer, We are Abraham's seed and have never been any man's servant: why do you say, You will become free?
And his disciples put a question to him, saying, Master, was it because of this man's sin, or the sin of his father and mother, that he has been blind from birth?
After saying this, he spit on the ground and made mud with the saliva. Then he spread the mud on the man's eyes
Now it was on a Sabbath day that Jesus made the mud and opened the man’s eyes.
They ridiculed him: “You’re that man’s disciple, but we’re Moses’ disciples.
But some of them said, “Couldn’t He who opened the blind man’s eyes also have kept this man from dying?”
“Remove the stone,” Jesus said.Martha, the dead man’s sister, told Him, “Lord, he’s already decaying. It’s been four days.”
Then saith the damsel that kept the door unto Peter, Art not thou also one of this man's disciples? He saith, I am not.
And he went out with his cross on him to the place which is named Dead Man's Head (in Hebrew, Golgotha):
Then Peter took hold of him by the right hand and raised him up, and at once the man's feet and ankles were made strong.
Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man's blood upon us.
