'Officers' in the Bible
He went away and discussed with the chief priests and officers of the temple guard how he might betray Jesus, handing him over to them.
Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard, and the elders who had come out to get him, "Have you come out with swords and clubs like you would against an outlaw?
The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things about Jesus, so the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to arrest him.
Then the officers returned to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, "Why didn't you bring him back with you?"
The officers replied, "No one ever spoke like this man!"

Then the squad of soldiers with their commanding officer and the officers of the Jewish leaders arrested Jesus and tied him up.
When Jesus had said this, one of the high priest's officers who stood nearby struck him on the face and said, "Is that the way you answer the high priest?"
When the chief priests and their officers saw him, they shouted out, "Crucify him! Crucify him!" Pilate said, "You take him and crucify him! Certainly I find no reason for an accusation against him!"
But the officers who came for them did not find them in the prison, so they returned and reported,
Then the commander of the temple guard went with the officers and brought the apostles without the use of force (for they were afraid of being stoned by the people).
At daybreak the magistrates sent their police officers, saying, "Release those men."
But Paul said to the police officers, "They had us beaten in public without a proper trial -- even though we are Roman citizens -- and they threw us in prison. And now they want to send us away secretly? Absolutely not! They themselves must come and escort us out!"
The police officers reported these words to the magistrates. They were frightened when they heard Paul and Silas were Roman citizens
So the next day Agrippa and Bernice came with great pomp and entered the audience hall, along with the senior military officers and the prominent men of the city. When Festus gave the order, Paul was brought in.
