'Pot' in the Bible

who say, ‘Is not the time near to build houses? This city is [secure just like] the pot and we are the meat [in it].’

Therefore, thus says the Lord God, “Your dead whom you have laid in the midst of your city are the meat and this city is the pot; but I shall force you out of [the security of] it.

This city will not be a pot for you, nor will you be meat [safe] in it, but I will judge you at the border of Israel.

Speak a parable against the rebellious house [of Judah] and say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord God,“Put on a pot; put it on and also pour water into it;

“Take the choicest of the flock,And also pile wood under the pot.Make it boil vigorouslyAnd boil its bones in the pot.”

‘Therefore, thus says the Lord God,“Woe (judgment is coming) to the bloody city,To the pot in which there is rustAnd whose rust has not gone out of it!Take out of it piece by piece,Without making any choice.

“Then set the empty pot (Jerusalem) back on the coalsSo that it may be hotAnd its bronze may glowAnd its filthiness may be meltedAnd its rust (scum) may be consumed.
