'Shattered' in the Bible
For the head of Aram is Damascus and the head of Damascus is Rezin (now within another 65 years Ephraim will be shattered, so that it is no longer a people),
“Be broken, O peoples, and be shattered; And give ear, all remote places of the earth.Gird yourselves, yet be shattered;Gird yourselves, yet be shattered.
“Now behold, here comes a troop of riders, horsemen in pairs.”And one said, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon; And all the images of her gods are shattered on the ground.”
Whose collapse is like the smashing of a potter’s jar,So ruthlessly shatteredThat a sherd will not be found among its piecesTo take fire from a hearthOr to scoop water from a cistern.”
