'Sin' in the Bible
Do not forgive their iniquity and let not their sin be blotted out before You, for they have demoralized the builders.
He was hired for this reason, that I might become frightened and act accordingly and sin, so that they might have an evil report in order that they could reproach me.
for the showbread, for the continual grain offering, for the continual burnt offering, the sabbaths, the new moon, for the appointed times, for the holy things and for the sin offerings to make atonement for Israel, and all the work of the house of our God.
Did not Solomon king of Israel sin regarding these things? Yet among the many nations there was no king like him, and he was loved by his God, and God made him king over all Israel; nevertheless the foreign women caused even him to sin.
Through all this Job did not sin nor did he blame God.
But he said to her, “You speak as one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we indeed accept good from God and not accept adversity?” In all this Job did not sin with his lips.
That You should seek for my guiltAnd search after my sin?
If I sin, then You would take note of me,And would not acquit me of my guilt.
“How many are my iniquities and sins?Make known to me my rebellion and my sin.
“For now You number my steps,You do not observe my sin.
“No, I have not allowed my mouth to sinBy asking for his life in a curse.
‘For he adds rebellion to his sin;He claps his hands among us,And multiplies his words against God.’”
Tremble, and do not sin;Meditate in your heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

When I kept silent about my sin, my body wasted awayThrough my groaning all day long.
I acknowledged my sin to You,And my iniquity I did not hide;I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord”;And You forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah.
There is no soundness in my flesh because of Your indignation;There is no health in my bones because of my sin.
For I confess my iniquity;I am full of anxiety because of my sin.

Sacrifice and meal offering You have not desired;My ears You have opened;Burnt offering and sin offering You have not required.
Wash me thoroughly from my iniquityAnd cleanse me from my sin.
For I know my transgressions,And my sin is ever before me.
Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,And in sin my mother conceived me.

Righteousness exalts a nation,But sin is a disgrace to any people.
Who can say, “I have cleansed my heart,I am pure from my sin”?
Haughty eyes and a proud heart,The lamp of the wicked, is sin.
The devising of folly is sin,And the scoffer is an abomination to men.
Do not let your speech cause you to sin and do not say in the presence of the messenger of God that it was a mistake. Why should God be angry on account of your voice and destroy the work of your hands?
The expression of their faces bears witness against them,And they display their sin like Sodom;They do not even conceal it.Woe to them!For they have brought evil on themselves.
Woe to those who drag iniquity with the cords of falsehood,And sin as if with cart ropes;
He touched my mouth with it and said, “Behold, this has touched your lips; and your iniquity is taken away and your sin is forgiven.”
Therefore through this Jacob’s iniquity will be forgiven;And this will be the full price of the pardoning of his sin:When he makes all the altar stones like pulverized chalk stones;When Asherim and incense altars will not stand.
“Woe to the rebellious children,” declares the Lord,“Who execute a plan, but not Mine,And make an alliance, but not of My Spirit,In order to add sin to sin;
For in that day every man will cast away his silver idols and his gold idols, which your sinful hands have made for you as a sin.
Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great,And He will divide the booty with the strong;Because He poured out Himself to death,And was numbered with the transgressors;Yet He Himself bore the sin of many,And interceded for the transgressors.
“Now when you tell this people all these words, they will say to you, ‘For what reason has the Lord declared all this great calamity against us? And what is our iniquity, or what is our sin which we have committed against the Lord our God?’
I will first doubly repay their iniquity and their sin, because they have polluted My land; they have filled My inheritance with the carcasses of their detestable idols and with their abominations.”
The sin of Judah is written down with an iron stylus;With a diamond point it is engraved upon the tablet of their heartAnd on the horns of their altars,
O mountain of Mine in the countryside,I will give over your wealth and all your treasures for booty,Your high places for sin throughout your borders.
Yet You, O Lord, knowAll their deadly designs against me;Do not forgive their iniquityOr blot out their sin from Your sight.But may they be overthrown before You;Deal with them in the time of Your anger!
They will not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares the Lord, “for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”
They built the high places of Baal that are in the valley of Ben-hinnom to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire to Molech, which I had not commanded them nor had it entered My mind that they should do this abomination, to cause Judah to sin.
Perhaps the house of Judah will hear all the calamity which I plan to bring on them, in order that every man will turn from his evil way; then I will forgive their iniquity and their sin.”

However, if you have warned the righteous man that the righteous should not sin and he does not sin, he shall surely live because he took warning; and you have delivered yourself.”
“But when a righteous man turns away from his righteousness, commits iniquity and does according to all the abominations that a wicked man does, will he live? All his righteous deeds which he has done will not be remembered for his treachery which he has committed and his sin which he has committed; for them he will die.
“I will pour out My wrath on Sin,The stronghold of Egypt;I will also cut off the hordes of Thebes.
“I will set a fire in Egypt;Sin will writhe in anguish,Thebes will be breachedAnd Memphis will have distresses daily.
And you, son of man, say to your fellow citizens, ‘The righteousness of a righteous man will not deliver him in the day of his transgression, and as for the wickedness of the wicked, he will not stumble because of it in the day when he turns from his wickedness; whereas a righteous man will not be able to live by his righteousness on the day when he commits sin.’
But when I say to the wicked, ‘You will surely die,’ and he turns from his sin and practices justice and righteousness,
In the porch of the gate were two tables on each side, on which to slaughter the burnt offering, the sin offering and the guilt offering.
Then he said to me, “The north chambers and the south chambers, which are opposite the separate area, they are the holy chambers where the priests who are near to the Lord shall eat the most holy things. There they shall lay the most holy things, the grain offering, the sin offering and the guilt offering; for the place is holy.
You shall give to the Levitical priests who are from the offspring of Zadok, who draw near to Me to minister to Me,’ declares the Lord God, ‘a young bull for a sin offering.
You shall also take the bull for the sin offering, and it shall be burned in the appointed place of the house, outside the sanctuary.
‘On the second day you shall offer a male goat without blemish for a sin offering, and they shall cleanse the altar as they cleansed it with the bull.
For seven days you shall prepare daily a goat for a sin offering; also a young bull and a ram from the flock, without blemish, shall be prepared.
On the day that he goes into the sanctuary, into the inner court to minister in the sanctuary, he shall offer his sin offering,” declares the Lord God.
They shall eat the grain offering, the sin offering and the guilt offering; and every devoted thing in Israel shall be theirs.
It shall be the prince’s part to provide the burnt offerings, the grain offerings and the drink offerings, at the feasts, on the new moons and on the sabbaths, at all the appointed feasts of the house of Israel; he shall provide the sin offering, the grain offering, the burnt offering and the peace offerings, to make atonement for the house of Israel.”
The priest shall take some of the blood from the sin offering and put it on the door posts of the house, on the four corners of the ledge of the altar and on the posts of the gate of the inner court.
On that day the prince shall provide for himself and all the people of the land a bull for a sin offering.
During the seven days of the feast he shall provide as a burnt offering to the Lord seven bulls and seven rams without blemish on every day of the seven days, and a male goat daily for a sin offering.
In the seventh month, on the fifteenth day of the month, at the feast, he shall provide like this, seven days for the sin offering, the burnt offering, the grain offering and the oil.”
He said to me, “This is the place where the priests shall boil the guilt offering and the sin offering and where they shall bake the grain offering, in order that they may not bring them out into the outer court to transmit holiness to the people.”
Now while I was speaking and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before the Lord my God in behalf of the holy mountain of my God,
“Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy place.
They feed on the sin of My peopleAnd direct their desire toward their iniquity.
Since Ephraim has multiplied altars for sin,They have become altars of sinning for him.
Also the high places of Aven, the sin of Israel, will be destroyed;Thorn and thistle will grow on their altars;Then they will say to the mountains,“Cover us!” And to the hills, “Fall on us!”
And Ephraim said, “Surely I have become rich,I have found wealth for myself;In all my labors they will find in meNo iniquity, which would be sin.”
And now they sin more and more,And make for themselves molten images,Idols skillfully made from their silver,All of them the work of craftsmen.They say of them, “Let the men who sacrifice kiss the calves!”
The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up;His sin is stored up.
Harness the chariot to the team of horses,O inhabitant of Lachish—She was the beginning of sinTo the daughter of Zion—Because in you were foundThe rebellious acts of Israel.
On the other hand I am filled with power—With the Spirit of the Lord—And with justice and courageTo make known to Jacob his rebellious act,Even to Israel his sin.
Does the Lord take delight in thousands of rams,In ten thousand rivers of oil?Shall I present my firstborn for my rebellious acts,The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
“In that day a fountain will be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for impurity.
“Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven.
Then Peter came and said to Him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me and I forgive him? Up to seven times?”
but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”—
The next day he *saw Jesus coming to him and *said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!
Afterward Jesus *found him in the temple and said to him, “Behold, you have become well; do not sin anymore, so that nothing worse happens to you.”
But when they persisted in asking Him, He straightened up, and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her.”
She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “I do not condemn you, either. Go. From now on sin no more.”]
Then He said again to them, “I go away, and you will seek Me, and will die in your sin; where I am going, you cannot come.”
Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is the slave of sin.
Which one of you convicts Me of sin? If I speak truth, why do you not believe Me?
Jesus said to them, “If you were blind, you would have no sin; but since you say, ‘We see,’ your sin remains.
If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not have sin, but now they have no excuse for their sin.
If I had not done among them the works which no one else did, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated Me and My Father as well.
And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment;
