Let thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we hope in thee.

{To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, Maschil.} We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.

Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.

But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.

But thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies.

Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.

Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.

Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.

He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.

He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.

Would that Israel's deliverance come out of Zion! When God restores the fortunes of his people, Jacob will rejoice and Israel will be glad. To the Director: With stringed instruments. A Davidic instruction, when the Ziphites came and told Saul, "David is hiding among us, is he not?"

Look what pours out of their mouths! They use their lips like swords, saying "Who will hear us?"

Do not strike them dead suddenly, because then my people might forget the lesson. Use your power to make them homeless vagabonds and then bring them down, O Lord who shields us!

So your loved ones may be delivered, save us by your power and answer us quickly!

O God, how long will those who are against us say cruel things? will the hater go on looking down on your name for ever?

Will the Lord reject [us] forever, and will he never be pleased [with us] again?

And I said, “This is my grief,That the right hand of the Most High has changed [and His lovingkindness is withheld].”

They insulted God, saying, "Is God really able to give us food in the wilderness?

Yes, he struck a rock and water flowed out, streams gushed forth. But can he also give us food? Will he provide meat for his people?"

We are become a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.

O remember not against us former iniquities: let thy tender mercies speedily prevent us: for we are brought very low.

Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh stir up thy strength, and come and save us.

That Thy beloved ones may be delivered, Save with Thy right hand, and answer us.

Wilt not thou, O God, who hast cast us off? and wilt not thou, O God, go forth with our hosts?

But as for us, we will bless the LordFrom this time forth and forever.Praise the Lord!
