'Dens' in the Bible
The [powerful] hand of Midian prevailed against Israel. Because of Midian the sons of Israel made for themselves the dens (hideouts) which were in the mountains, and the caves and the [mountain] strongholds.
“Then the beast goes into its lairAnd remains in its hiding place.
When they crouch in their densAnd lie in wait in their lair?
When the sun arises, they withdrawAnd lie down in their dens.
“Come away with me from Lebanon, my [promised] bride,May you come with me from Lebanon.Journey down from the top of Amana,From the summit of Senir and Hermon,From the dens of lions,From the mountains of leopards.
For the palace has been abandoned, the populated city deserted;The hill [of the city] and the watchtower have become caves [for wild animals] forever,A delight for wild donkeys, a pasture for flocks,
The lion [of Assyria] tore enough for his cubs (Assyrian citizens),Killed [enough prey] for his lionesses,And filled his lairs with preyAnd his dens with torn flesh.
