'Despise' in the Bible
And you, O desolate one, what will you do?Although you dress in scarlet,Although you decorate yourself with ornaments of gold,Although you enlarge your eyes with paint,In vain you make yourself beautiful.Your lovers despise you; They seek your life.
Do not despise us, for Your own name’s sake;Do not disgrace the throne of Your glory;Remember and do not annul Your covenant with us.
“They keep saying to those who despise Me,‘The Lord has said, “You will have peace”’;And as for everyone who walks in the stubbornness of his own heart,They say, ‘Calamity will not come upon you.’
“Have you not observed what this people have spoken, saying, ‘The two families which the Lord chose, He has rejected them’? Thus they despise My people, no longer are they as a nation in their sight.
