'Devouring' in the Bible

Your land is desolate,Your cities are burned with fire,Your fields—strangers are devouring them in your presence;It is desolation, as overthrown by strangers.

“On all the bare heights in the wildernessDestroyers have come,For a sword of the Lord is devouringFrom one end of the land even to the other;There is no peace for anyone.

“I smote you with scorching wind and mildew;And the caterpillar was devouringYour many gardens and vineyards, fig trees and olive trees;Yet you have not returned to Me,” declares the Lord.
