'Hiding' in the Bible
‘Who ate the fat of their sacrifices,And drank the wine of their drink offering?Let them rise up and help you,Let them be your hiding place!
Therefore they inquired further of the Lord, “Has the man come here yet?” So the Lord said, “Behold, he is hiding himself by the baggage.”
Then Ziphites came up to Saul at Gibeah, saying, “Is David not hiding with us in the strongholds at Horesh, on the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?
So look, and learn about all the hiding places where he hides himself and return to me with certainty, and I will go with you; and if he is in the land, I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah.”
Then the Ziphites came to Saul at Gibeah, saying, “Is not David hiding on the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon?”
He also sought Ahaziah, and they caught him while he was hiding in Samaria; they brought him to Jehu, put him to death and buried him. For they said, “He is the son of Jehoshaphat, who sought the Lord with all his heart.” So there was no one of the house of Ahaziah to retain the power of the kingdom.
‘Clouds are a hiding place for Him, so that He cannot see;And He walks on the vault of heaven.’
“Have I covered my transgressions like Adam,By hiding my iniquity in my bosom,
He sits in the lurking places of the villages;In the hiding places he kills the innocent;His eyes stealthily watch for the unfortunate.
He lurks in a hiding place as a lion in his lair;He lurks to catch the afflicted;He catches the afflicted when he draws him into his net.
He is like a lion that is eager to tear,And as a young lion lurking in hiding places.
He made darkness His hiding place, His canopy around Him,Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.
You are my hiding place; You preserve me from trouble;You surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah.
For the choir director; on stringed instruments. A Maskil of David, when the Ziphites came and said to Saul, “Is not David hiding himself among us?”Save me, O God, by Your name,And vindicate me by Your power.
“You called in trouble and I rescued you;I answered you in the hiding place of thunder;I proved you at the waters of Meribah. Selah.
You are my hiding place and my shield;I wait for Your word.
And I will wait for the Lord who is hiding His face from the house of Jacob; I will even look eagerly for Him.
“Let the outcasts of Moab stay with you;Be a hiding place to them from the destroyer.”For the extortioner has come to an end, destruction has ceased,Oppressors have completely disappeared from the land.
“Can a man hide himself in hiding placesSo I do not see him?” declares the Lord.“Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the Lord.
“He has left His hiding place like the lion;For their land has become a horrorBecause of the fierceness of the oppressing swordAnd because of His fierce anger.”
“But I have stripped Esau bare,I have uncovered his hiding placesSo that he will not be able to conceal himself;His offspring has been destroyed along with his relativesAnd his neighbors, and he is no more.
His radiance is like the sunlight;He has rays flashing from His hand,And there is the hiding of His power.
