'Lower' in the Bible

Thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and splendour.

But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth;

My bones were not hidden from thee when I was made in secret, curiously wrought in the lower parts of the earth.
