'Overlays' in the Bible

At that time King Hezekiah of Judah stripped the metal overlays from the doors of the Lord's temple and from the posts which he had plated and gave them to the king of Assyria.

A craftsman casts an idol; a metalsmith overlays it with gold and forges silver chains for it.

He decorates it with overlays of silver and gold. He uses hammer and nails to fasten it together so that it will not fall over.
