'Shoots' in the Bible
“He thrives before the sun,And his shoots spread out over his garden.
“For there is hope for a tree,When it is cut down, that it will sprout again,And its shoots will not fail.
“He will not escape from darkness; The flame will wither his shoots,And by the breath of His mouth he will go away.
It was sending out its branches to the seaAnd its shoots to the River.
“Your shoots are an orchard of pomegranatesWith choice fruits, henna with nard plants,
“Yet I planted you a choice vine,A completely faithful seed. How then have you turned yourself before MeInto the degenerate shoots of a foreign vine?
Then it sprouted and became a low, spreading vine with its branches turned toward him, but its roots remained under it. So it became a vine and yielded shoots and sent out branches.
‘And fire has gone out from its branch; It has consumed its shoots and fruit,So that there is not in it a strong branch,A scepter to rule.’”This is a lamentation, and has become a lamentation.
His shoots will sprout,And his beauty will be like the olive treeAnd his fragrance like the cedars of Lebanon.
