'Shut' in the Bible

And thou hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy; Thou hast set my feet in a large place.

Let not the waterflood overwhelm me, Neither let the deep swallow me up; And let not the pit shut its mouth upon me.

Hath God forgotten to be gracious? Hath he in anger shut up his tender mercies? Selah

Thou hast put mine acquaintance far from me; Thou hast made me an abomination unto them: I am shut up, and I cannot come forth.
