'Sucking' in the Bible

Was it I who conceived all these people? Was it I who brought them forth, that You should say to me, ‘Carry them in your arms as a nurse carries the nursing infant, to the land which You swore to their fathers’?

‘Outside the sword will bereave,And inside [the chambers] terror—For both young man and virgin,For the nursing child and the man of gray hair.

So Samuel took a nursing lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord; and Samuel cried out to the Lord for Israel and the Lord answered him.

And the nursing child will [safely] play over the hole of the cobra,And the weaned child will put his hand on the viper’s den [and not be hurt].
