'Upper' in the Bible
Pashhur had Jeremiah the prophet beaten and put him in the stocks that were at the upper Benjamin Gate, which was by the house of the Lord.
“Woe to him who builds his house without righteousnessAnd his upper rooms without justice,Who uses his neighbor’s services without payAnd does not give him his wages,
Who says, ‘I will build myself a roomy houseWith spacious upper rooms,And cut out its windows,Paneling it with cedar and painting it bright red.’
Then Baruch read from the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of the Lord in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the upper court, at the entry of the New Gate of the Lord’s house, to all the people.
