'Ruin' in the Bible
Then Jacob said to Simeon and Levi, "You have brought ruin on me by making me a foul odor among the inhabitants of the land -- among the Canaanites and the Perizzites. I am few in number; they will join forces against me and attack me, and both I and my family will be destroyed!"
"The enemy said, "I'll pursue them, I'll overtake them, I'll divide the spoil. I'll satisfy my anger on them, I'll draw my sword, and my hand will bring them to ruin.'
You must not round off the corners of the hair on your head or ruin the corners of your beard.
And I will scatter you among the nations, and I will draw a sword behind you; and your land shall be a desolation, and your cities shall be a ruin.
And the Angel of Jehovah said to him, Wherefore hast thou smitten thine ass these three times? behold, it was I who came forth to withstand thee, for the way thou walkest in is for ruin before me.
And he looked [at] Amalek, {uttered} his oracle, and said, "Amalek [is] first of [the] nations, but his future [will be] forever ruin."
The ships [will come] from the hand of the Kittim, and they will afflict Asshur and will afflict Eber; also he [will be] forever ruin."
so that you [do] not {ruin yourselves} and make for yourselves a divine image [in] a form of any image, a replica of male or female,
Then you shall gather all its booty into the middle of its open square and burn the city and all its booty with fire as a whole burnt offering to the Lord your God; and it shall be a ruin forever. It shall never be rebuilt.
It shall come about that just as the Lord delighted over you to make you prosper and multiply, so the Lord will delight over you to bring you to ruin and destruction; and you will be uprooted [violently] from the land which you are entering to possess.
Then the Lord will single him out for disaster from all the tribes of Israel [making an example of him], according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this Book of the Law.
Joshua burned Ai and left it a permanent ruin, desolate to this day.
The redeemer replied, “I can’t redeem it myself, or I will ruin my own inheritance. Take my right of redemption, because I can’t redeem it.”
Yet I will not cut off every man of yours from My altar; your eyes will fail from weeping and your soul will grieve, and all those born in your house will die as men [in the prime of life].

Then you must attack every fortified city and every choice city. You must cut down every good tree and stop up every spring of water. You must ruin every good piece of land with stones.”
Then they will say: Because they abandoned the Lord God of their ancestors who brought them out of the land of Egypt. They clung to other gods and worshiped and served them. Because of this, He brought all this ruin on them.
But his coming to Joram was from God the complete ruin of Ahaziah. And when he had come, he went out with Jehoram against Jehu the son of Nimshi, whom Jehovah had anointed to cut off the house of Ahab.
For he sacrificed unto the gods of Damascus, which smote him: and he said, Because the gods of the kings of Syria help them, therefore will I sacrifice to them, that they may help me. But they were the ruin of him, and of all Israel.
They in turn gave it to the carpenters and to the builders to buy quarried stone and timber for couplings and to make beams for the houses which the kings of Judah had let go to ruin.

“For it is a fire which consumes to Abaddon (destruction, ruin, final torment);And [illicit passion] would burn and rage and uproot all my [life’s] increase [destroying everything].
If I rejoice at the ruin of my hater, And stirred up myself when evil found him,
For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous,but the way of the wicked leads to ruin.
The enemy has come to eternal ruin;You have uprooted the cities,and the very memory of them has perished.
The cords of death surrounded me,And the streams of ungodliness and torrents of destruction terrified me.
Let those who seek after my soul be disappointed and brought to dishonor. Let those who plot my ruin be turned back and confounded.
Let ruin come on him unexpectedly,and let the net that he hid ensnare him;let him fall into it—to his ruin.
Destruction is within her;Oppression and deceit do not depart from her streets and market places.
But those who seek my life to destroy itWill [be destroyed and] go into the depths of the earth [into the underworld].
Their own tongues shall ruin them. All who see them will shake their heads.
Let them be disappointed and confounded who seek my soul. Let those who desire my ruin be turned back in disgrace.
Indeed, You put them in slippery places;You make them fall into ruin.
The wild boars of the forest ruin it; the insects of the field feed on it.
Will Your lovingkindness be declared in the graveOr Your faithfulness in Abaddon (the underworld)?
Thou hast broken down all his hedges; thou hast brought his strong holds to ruin.
Let not the man of evil tongue be established in the earth: evil shall hunt the man of violence to his ruin.
The Lord protects the strangers;He supports the fatherless and the widow;But He makes crooked the way of the wicked.
Don’t fear sudden dangeror the ruin of the wicked when it comes,
I am on the verge of complete ruinbefore the entire community.”
The wise person accepts instructions, but the one who speaks foolishness will come to ruin.
The one who winks his eye causes trouble, and the one who speaks foolishness will come to ruin.
The wise lay up knowledge, and the mouth of a fool is near ruin.
The wealth of the rich is his strong city, The ruin of the poor is their poverty.
He who learns from instruction and correction is on the [right] path of life [and for others his example is a path toward wisdom and blessing],But he who ignores and refuses correction goes off course [and for others his example is a path toward sin and ruin].
To the upright, the way of the LORD is a place of safety, but it's a place of ruin to those who practice evil.
The one who brings ruin on his householdwill inherit the wind,and a fool will be a slaveto someone whose heart is wise.
The one who guards his mouth protects his life;the one who opens his lips invites his own ruin.
A large population is a king's glory, but a shortage of people is a ruler's ruin.
One with a twisted mind will not succeed,and one with deceitful speech will fall into ruin.

Dead flies cause a bad smell [and] ruin the ointment of the perfumer. So also a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor.
(W) Catch the foxes for us—the little foxes that ruin the vineyards—for our vineyards are in bloom.
But the ruin of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together; and they that forsake Jehovah shall be consumed.

The burden of Damascus. Lo, Damascus is taken away from being a city, And it hath been a heap -- a ruin.

This is what the Lord says,“In a favorable time I have answered You,And in a day of salvation I have helped You;And I will keep watch over You and give You for a covenant of the people,To restore the land [from its present state of ruin] and to apportion and give as inheritances the deserted hereditary lands,
"These twin things have come upon you (who can feel sorry for you?): ruin and destruction, famine and the sword who can console you?
In righteousness thou establishest thyself, Be far from oppression, for thou fearest not, And from ruin, for it cometh not near unto thee.
“Behold, I Myself have created the smith who blows the fire of coalsAnd brings out a weapon for its work;And I have created the destroyer to ruin.
Their feet run after evil,and they rush to shed innocent blood.Their thoughts are sinful thoughts;ruin and wretchedness are in their paths.
Your chosen cities have become a desert; Zion has become a desert, Jerusalem is a desolate ruin.
Our holy and beautiful house,Where our fathers praised You,Has been burned by fire;And all our precious things have become a ruin.
A lion has gone up from his thicket, and a destroyer of nations has set out. He has gone out from his place to make your land as a horror, your cities will go to ruin {without} inhabitant.

if you do not oppress the alien, the orphan, or the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, nor walk after other gods to your own ruin,
Then I will make to cease from the cities of Judah and from the streets of Jerusalem the voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride; for the land will become a ruin.

Why are we sitting still [the people wonder]?Assemble yourselves, and let us enter the fortified citiesAnd let us die there,For the Lord our God has decreed our ruinAnd given us bitter and poisonous water to drink,Because we have sinned against the Lord.
Vent your anger on the nations that do not acknowledge you. Vent it on the peoples who do not worship you. For they have destroyed the people of Jacob. They have completely destroyed them and left their homeland in utter ruin.
Many foreign rulers will ruin the land where I planted my people. They will trample all over my chosen land. They will turn my beautiful land into a desolate wasteland.
