'Wedding' in the Bible
(Pharaoh, king of Egypt, had attacked and captured Gezer. He burned it and killed the Canaanites who lived in the city. He gave it as a wedding present to his daughter, who had married Solomon.)
Come out, O maidens of Zion, and gaze upon King Solomon! He is wearing the crown with which his mother crowned him on his wedding day, on the most joyous day of his life!
Jesus said to them, "The wedding guests cannot mourn while the bridegroom is with them, can they? But the days are coming when the bridegroom will be taken from them, and then they will fast.
"The kingdom of heaven can be compared to a king who gave a wedding banquet for his son.
Again he sent other slaves, saying, 'Tell those who have been invited, "Look! The feast I have prepared for you is ready. My oxen and fattened cattle have been slaughtered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet."'
Then he said to his slaves, 'The wedding is ready, but the ones who had been invited were not worthy.
So go into the main streets and invite everyone you find to the wedding banquet.'
And those slaves went out into the streets and gathered all they found, both bad and good, and the wedding hall was filled with guests.
But when the king came in to see the wedding guests, he saw a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes.
And he said to him, 'Friend, how did you get in here without wedding clothes?' But he had nothing to say.
But while they had gone to buy it, the bridegroom arrived, and those who were ready went inside with him to the wedding banquet. Then the door was shut.
Jesus said to them, "The wedding guests cannot fast while the bridegroom is with them, can they? As long as they have the bridegroom with them they do not fast.
So Jesus said to them, "You cannot make the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them, can you?
be like people waiting for their master to come back from the wedding celebration, so that when he comes and knocks they can immediately open the door for him.
"When you are invited by someone to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, because a person more distinguished than you may have been invited by your host.
Now on the third day there was a wedding at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there,
and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.
Let us rejoice and exult and give him glory, because the wedding celebration of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.
Then the angel said to me, "Write the following: Blessed are those who are invited to the banquet at the wedding celebration of the Lamb!" He also said to me, "These are the true words of God."
