for I wrote for this purpose, that I might know the proof of you, whether you are obedient in all things.

And his affection is more abundant for you, remembering the obedience of you all, how with fear and trembling you received him.

and being ready to punish every disobedience, when your obedience is completed.

And so, my beloved, as you always obeyed, not in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling;

He therefore that despises, despises not man, but God, who also gives us his Holy Spirit.

I have written to you, having confidence in your obedience, knowing that you will do even more than I say.

Obey your guides and be in subjection; for they watch for your souls as having to give an account, that they may do this with joy and not with grief; for this is unprofitable for you.
