1 Peter and John were on their way up to the temple at the three o'clock hour of prayer, 2 when a man crippled from his birth was being carried by, who used to be laid every day at what was called The Beautiful Gate of the temple, to beg from people on their way into the temple. 3 So when he saw Peter and John about to go into the temple, he asked them to give him something. 4 Peter looked him straight in the eye, and so did John, and said, "Look at us." 5 The beggar looked at them, supposing that he was going to get something from them. 6 But Peter said, "No silver or gold have I, but what I do have I will give you. In the name of Jesus of Nazareth start walking." 7 Then he took him by the right hand and lifted him, and his feet and ankles instantly grew strong, 8 and at once he leaped to his feet and started walking; then he went into the temple with them, walking, leaping, and praising God. 9 When all the people saw him walking about and praising God, 10 and recognized him as the very man who used to sit at The Beautiful Gate of the temple to beg, they were completely astounded and bewildered at what occurred to him.
11 While he was still clinging to Peter and John, all the people in utter amazement crowded around them in what was called Solomon's portico. 12 When Peter saw this, he said to the people, "Fellow Israelites, why are you so surprised at this? Why do you keep staring at us, as though we had by our own power or piety made this man walk? 13 The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our forefathers, has glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you yourselves betrayed and disowned before Pilate, although he had decided to set Him free. 14 Yes, you disowned the Holy and Righteous One and asked a murderer to be pardoned as a favor to you, 15 and you killed the Prince of life, but God raised Him from the dead, to which fact we are witnesses. 16 It is His name, that is, on condition of faith in His name, that has made strong again this man whom you see and recognize -- yes, faith inspired by Him has given this man the perfect health you all see.
17 "And yet, I know, brothers, that you did not realize what you were doing, any more than your leaders did. 18 But in this way God fulfilled what He by the lips of all the prophets foretold, that the Christ should suffer. 19 So now repent and turn to Him, to have your sins wiped out, that times of revival may come from the presence of the Lord, 20 and He may send back Jesus, the Christ who long ago was appointed for you. 21 Yet heaven must retain Him till the time for the universal restoration of which God in the early ages spoke through the lips of His holy prophets. 22 Moses, indeed, said: 'The Lord God will raise up a prophet for you from among your brothers, as He did me. You must attentively listen to everything that He tells you. 23 The result will be, that any person who will not listen to that prophet will be utterly destroyed from among the people.'
24 Yes, all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel down, have also foretold these days. 25 And you are the descendants of the prophets and the heirs of the sacred compact which God made with your forefathers, when He said to Abraham: 'All the families of the earth are to be blessed through your posterity.' 26 It was to you first that He sent His Servant, after raising Him from the dead, to bless you by causing every one of you to turn from his wicked ways."
