A Survey Of The Kings Of The North And South

¹ “Also I, in the first year of Darius the Mede, I (Gabriel) arose to be an encouragement and a protection for him. ² And now I will tell you the truth. Behold, three more kings are going to arise in Persia. Then a fourth will become far richer than all of them. When he becomes strong through his riches he will stir up the whole empire against the realm of Greece. ³ Then a mighty [warlike, threatening] king will arise who will rule with great authority and do as he pleases.

Daniel 8:26

“The vision of the evenings and the mornings
Which has been told [to you] is true.
But keep the vision a secret,
For it has to do with many days in the now distant future.”

In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a message was revealed to Daniel, who was named Belteshazzar; and the message was true and it referred to great conflict (warfare, misery). And he understood the message and had an understanding of the vision.
