Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

Are not my days few? cease then, and let me alone, that I may take comfort a little,

My days pass as swiftly as a hand-loom; they come to their conclusion without hope.

Because we are of yesterday and we know nothing, for our time on earth is only a shadow.

"My days pass faster than a runner; but they pass quickly without seeing anything good.

Human beings born by women are short-lived and full of trouble.

Look, you have made my life span fit in your hand; It is nothing compared to yours. Surely every person at their best is a puff of wind. Interlude

A person's life is like grass it blossoms like wild flowers,

"What is a human being, that you make so much of him; that you set your affections on him,

Withdraw your hand far from me and keep me from being petrified with terror.

Stop looking at me with chastisement, so I can smile again, before I depart and am no more. To the Director: A Davidic Psalm.
