3 “(A)Let the day perish on which I was to be born,And the night which said, ‘A (c)boy is conceived.’
3 "Let the day when I was born be annihilated, along with the night when it was announced, "It's a boy!'
4 The same day be turned to darkness, and not regarded of God from above, neither let the light shine upon it:
4 Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it.
4 “May that day be darkness;Let not God above care for it,Nor light shine on it.

4 Let that day be dark; let God above not care about it; let no light shine over it.
5 but let it be stained with darkness, and the shadow of death. Let the dim cloud fall upon it, and let it be lapped in with sorrow.
5 Let darkness and the shadow of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.
5 “Let (B)darkness and black gloom claim it;Let a cloud settle on it;Let the blackness of the day terrify it.
5 May darkness and gloom(B) reclaim it,and a cloud settle over it.May an eclipse of the sun(a) terrify it.
5 Let darkness and deep gloom reclaim it; let clouds settle down on it; let blackness in mid-day terrify it.
6 Let the dark storm overcome that night; let it not be reckoned among the days of the year, nor counted in the months.
6 As for that night, let darkness seize upon it; let it not be joined unto the days of the year, let it not come into the number of the months.
6 “As for that night, let darkness seize it;Let it not rejoice among the days of the year;Let it not come into the number of the months.

8 Let those who curse certain dayscast a spell(D) on it,those who are skilled in rousing Leviathan.(E)
8 Let whoever curses days curse it those who are ready to awaken monsters.
9 Let the stars of that night be dim through darkness of it. Let it look for light, but let it see none, neither the raising up of the fair morning:
9 Let the stars of the twilight thereof be dark; let it look for light, but have none; neither let it see the dawning of the day:
9 “Let the stars of its twilight be darkened;Let it wait for light but have none,And let it not see the (e)breaking dawn;
9 May its morning stars grow dark.May it wait for daylight but have none;may it not see the breaking(d) of dawn.

10 because it shut not up the womb that bare me. For then should these sorrows have been hid from mine eyes.
10 Because it shut not up the doors of my mother's womb, nor hid sorrow from mine eyes.
10 Because it did not shut the opening of my mother’s womb,Or hide trouble from my eyes.
10 For that night did not shutthe doors of my mother’s womb, and hide sorrow from my eyes.
10 "Because that night refused to shut the doors of my mother's womb; it failed to keep me from seeing this trouble.

13 Then should I now have lain still; I should have slept, and been at rest,
13 For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest,
13 “For now I (E)would have lain down and been quiet;I would have slept then, I would have been at rest,
13 "If I had died, I would be lying down by now, undisturbed, asleep, and at rest,
16 O that I utterly had no being, or were as a thing born out of time that is put aside, either as young children, which never saw the light.
16 Or as an hidden untimely birth I had not been; as infants which never saw light.
16 "Or why was I not buried like a stillborn child, like babies who never saw the light?
18 There, are those let out free which have been in prison, so that they hear no more the voice of the oppressor.
18 There the prisoners rest together; they hear not the voice of the oppressor.
18 “The prisoners are at ease together; They do not hear the voice of the taskmaster.
18 In that place, those who once were prisoners will be at ease together; they won't hear the voice of oppressors.
19 There, are small and great; the bondman, and he that is free from his master.
19 The small and great are there; and the servant is free from his master.

19 The unimportant and the important are both there, and the servant is free from his master.
Job Wishes He Might Die

22 Which rejoice exceedingly, and are glad, when they can find the grave?
22 Who rejoice greatly,And exult when they find the grave?
22 To those who are happy beyond measure when they reach their graves?
25 For the thing that I feared is come upon me: and the thing that I was afraid of, is happened unto me.
25 For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.
25 For the dreaded thing that I feared has happened to me, what caused me to worry has engulfed me.
