1 Balances of deceit, an abomination of Jehovah: and a whole stone his delight

1 A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight.

1 The LORD hates false scales, but he delights in accurate weights.

2 Pride coming, and dishonor will come: and wisdom with the humble.

2 When pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.

10 In the good of the just the city will exult: and in the perishing of the unjust it rejoiced.

10 When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.

10 The city rejoices when the righteous prosper, and when the wicked perish there is jubilation.

11 By the blessing of the upright the city shall be exalted: and by the mouth of the unjust it shall be overthrown.

13 He going about tale-bearing reveals a secret: and he being faithful of spirit hides the word.

13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

13 A gossip goes around revealing a secret,but a trustworthy person keeps a confidence.(N)

13 Whoever spreads gossip betrays secrets, but the trustworthy person keeps a confidence.

14 In no guidance the people will fall: and salvation in a multitude of counseling.

14 Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellers there is safety.

14 Without guidance, people fall,but with many counselors there is deliverance.(O)

14 A nation falls through a lack of guidance, but victory comes through the counsel of many.

15 The evil one shall become evil, for he became surety for a stranger: and he hating those striking hands being secure.

15 He that is surety for a stranger shall smart for it: and he that hateth suretiship is sure.

15 He who is (S)guarantor for a stranger will surely suffer for it,But he who hates (e)being a guarantor is secure.

15 If someone puts up security for a stranger,he will suffer for it,(P)but the one who hates such agreements is protected.

15 Securing a loan for a stranger will bring suffering, but by refusing to do so, one remains safe.

16 A woman of grace will obtain honor, and the powerful will obtain riches.

16 A gracious woman retaineth honour: and strong men retain riches.

16 A gracious woman gains honor,but violent(c) men gain only riches.

17 The man of mercy benefited his soul: and the cruel troubled his flesh.

17 The merciful man doeth good to his own soul: but he that is cruel troubleth his own flesh.

18 The unjust one did a work of falsehood: and the seed of justice the reward of truth.

18 The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.

18 The wicked earns deceptive wages,But he who (V)sows righteousness gets a true reward.

18 Evil people earn deceptive wages, but those who plant righteousness are truly rewarded.

19 So justice to life, and he pursuing evil, to his death.

19 As righteousness tendeth to life: so he that pursueth evil pursueth it to his own death.

19 He who is steadfast in (W)righteousness will attain to life,And (X)he who pursues evil will bring about his own death.

19 Genuine righteousness leads to life,(T)but pursuing evil leads to death.(U)

19 Genuine righteousness leads to life, but whoever pursues evil will die.

20 The perverse of heart are an abomination of Jehovah, and the blameless of way his delight

20 They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.

20 Those with twisted minds are detestable to the Lord,but those with blameless conduct are His delight.(V)

20 Devious minds are abhorrent to the LORD, but those whose ways are innocent are his delight.

21 Hand to hand, the evil one shall not be unpunished: and the seed of the just were delivered.

21 Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

21 (i)Assuredly, the evil man will not go unpunished,But the (j)descendants of the righteous will be delivered.

21 Be assured(d) that the wickedwill not go unpunished,(W)but the offspring of the righteous will escape.

21 Be sure of this: the wicked will not go unpunished, but the descendants of the righteous will go free.

22 A ring of gold in the nose of a swine, a fair woman and she departed from discernment

22 As a jewel of gold in a swine's snout, so is a fair woman which is without discretion.

24 There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.

24 There is one who scatters, and yet increases all the more,And there is one who withholds what is justly due, and yet it results only in want.

24 One person gives freely,yet gains more;(AA)another withholds what is right,only to become poor.(AB)

24 Those who give freely gain even more; others hold back what they owe, becoming even poorer.

25 The soul of blessing shall be made fat: also he watering, shall himself drink to the full.

25 The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.

27 He seeking good shall strive after acceptance: and he seeking evil, it shall come to him.

27 He that diligently seeketh good procureth favour: but he that seeketh mischief, it shall come unto him.

28 He trusting in his riches himself shall fall: and the just shall flourish as the foliage.

28 He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.

29 He troubling his house shall inherit wind: and the foolish is servant to the wise of heart

30 The fruit of the just a tree of life; and he taking souls is wise.

30 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise.
