'In the Wilderness' in the Bible

Do not harden your hearts as [your fathers did] in the rebellion [of Israel at Meribah],On the day of testing in the wilderness,

Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], so that no one will fall by following the same example of disobedience [as those who died in the wilderness].

For you have not come [as did the Israelites in the wilderness] to a mountain that can be touched and to a blazing fire, and to gloom and darkness and a raging windstorm,
