Luke 23:1-5 - Jesus Brought Before Pilate

Luke 23:1-5

1 Then the whole body of them arose and brought Him to Pilate. 2 Here they began to make the following charges against Him: "We have found this fellow corrupting our nation and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar and claiming to be a king himself."

3 Then Pilate asked Him, "Are you the king of the Jews?" And He answered him, "Yes, I am."

4 Then Pilate said to the high priests and crowds, "I do not find anything blameworthy in this man."

5 But they continued emphatically insisting, "He is exciting the people by teaching all over Judea. He started in Galilee and now He is here."

John 18:28-32

28 Then they took Jesus from Caiaphas to the governor's palace. It was early in the morning, and they would not go into the governor's palace themselves, in order not to be defiled, so as to be unfit to eat the Passover supper.

29 So Pilate came outside and asked, "What is the charge you bring against this man?"

30 They retorted, "If He were not a criminal, we would not have turned Him over to you."

31 Pilate said to them, "Take Him yourselves, and try Him in accordance with your own law." Then the Jews said to him, "It is not lawful for us to execute the death penalty on anyone." 32 This made it possible for the word of Jesus to be fulfilled which He spoke to indicate what sort of death He was to die.
