Then Solomon said, O Lord, to the sun you have given the heaven for a living-place, but your living-place was not seen by men,

‘Since the day that I brought My people from the land of Egypt, I did not choose a city out of all the tribes of Israel in which to build a house that My name might be there, nor did I choose any man for a leader over My people Israel;

Then hear thou from heaven, and forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, when thou hast taught them the good way, wherein they should walk; and send rain upon thy land, which thou hast given unto thy people for an inheritance.

So Solomon kept the feast at that time for seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great meeting, for the people had come together from the way into Hamath and from as far as the river of Egypt.

And the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said unto him, I have heard thy prayer, and have chosen this place to myself for an house of sacrifice.

"I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for a sacrificial temple to me. Whenever I close the skies so there is no rain, or whenever I command locusts to lay waste to the land, or whenever I send epidemics among my people,

and this house that I have sanctified for My name, I cast from before My face, and make it for a proverb, and for a byword, among all the peoples.

So all the work of Solomon was prepared, from the day of founding the house of Yahweh, even as far as the finishing thereof, - complete was the house of Yahweh.

And she will give to the king a hundred and twenty talents of gold, and spices for a multitude greatly, and precious stone: and there was not as that spice which queen Sheba gave to king Solomon.

And he ruled over all the kings from the river as far as the land of the Philistines, and up to the border of Egypt.
