For ye behold your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are chosen;

but God chose the foolish things of the world, that He might put to shame the wise; and God chose the weak things of the world, that He might put to shame the things that are strong;

and the base things of the world, and things despised, did God choose, and the things that are not, that He might bring to nought the things that are;

Have ye already become satisfied? Did ye already become rich? Did ye reign without us? I wish, at least, that ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.

And ye have become puffed up, and did not rather mourn, that he who did this deed might be taken away from you.

For, being free from all men, I made myself servant to all, that I might gain the more.

And, to the Jews, I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to those under law, as under law (not being myself under law), that I might gain those under law;

to those without law, as without law (not being without law to God, but under law to Christ), that I might gain those without law.

To the weak I became weak, that I might gain the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I may, by all means, save some.

Now these things became types for us, that we might not covet evil things, as they also coveted.

and to another, workings of mighty deeds; and to another, prophecy; and to another, discerning of spirits; to another, various kinds of tongues; and to another, interpretation of tongues.

that there might be no schism in the body, but that the members might have the same care, one for another.
