Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea, in the days of Herod the king, behold wise men came from the East to Jerusalem, saying, Where is he that is born king of the Jews?

They say to him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith to them, Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right ye shall receive.

And he answering said to one of them, Friend, I do thee no wrong.

But Jesus answering said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I am about to drink of, or to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say to him, We are able.

But Jesus calling them to him said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles lord it over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.

And when they drew nigh to Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives,

Now in the morning, as he was returning to the city he hungered.

And seeing a fig-tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon but leaves only. And he saith to it, Let no fruit grow on thee hence-forward for ever.

And the chief priests and the Pharisees, hearing his parables, knew he spoke of them.

Then the high priest rent his clothes, saying, He hath spoken blasphemy: what further need have we of witnesses? Behold now ye have heard his blasphemy.

Now Peter sat without in the hall. And one of the maid-servants came to him saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee.

Now at the feast the governour was wont to release to the people a prisoner, whom they would.

let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. He trusted in God: let him deliver him now if he will have him; for he said, I am the Son of God.
