He took up his parable, and said, "Alas, who shall live when God does this?

Joshua said, "Alas, Lord GOD, why have you brought this people over the Jordan at all, to deliver us into the hand of the Amorites, to cause us to perish? I wish that we had been content and lived beyond the Jordan.

Gideon saw that he was the angel of the LORD; and Gideon said, "Alas, Lord GOD. Because I have seen the angel of the LORD face to face."

It happened, when he saw her, that he tore his clothes, and said, "Alas, my daughter. You have brought me very low, and you are one of those who trouble me; for I have given my word to the LORD, and I can't break it."

He laid his body in his own grave; and they mourned over him, saying, "Alas, my brother."

The king of Israel said, "Alas. For the LORD has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab."

But as one was felling a beam, the axe head fell into the water. Then he cried, and said, "Alas, my master. For it was borrowed."

When the servant of the man of God had risen early, and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was around the city. His servant said to him, "Alas, my master. What shall we do?"

Alas Assyrian, the rod of my anger, the staff in whose hand is my indignation.

Alas. for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble; but he shall be saved out of it.

"Thus says the Lord GOD: 'Strike with your hand, and stamp with your foot, and say, "Alas." because of all the evil abominations of the house of Israel; for they shall fall by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence.

"Son of man, prophesy, and say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Wail, 'Alas for the day.'

Alas for the day. For the day of the LORD is at hand, and it will come as destruction from Shaddai.

Therefore thus says the LORD, the God of Hosts, the Lord: "Wailing will be in all the broad ways; and they will say in all the streets, 'Alas. Alas.' and they will call the farmer to mourning, and those who are skillful in lamentation to wailing.
