While He was still speaking to the crowds, behold, His mother and brothers were standing outside, seeking to speak to Him.

Then His mother and His brothers *arrived, and standing outside they sent word to Him and called Him.

After this He went down to Capernaum, He and His mother and His brothers and His disciples; and they stayed there a few days.

Therefore His brothers said to Him, “Leave here and go into Judea, so that Your disciples also may see Your works which You are doing.


Do we not have a right to take along a believing wife, even as the rest of the apostles and the brothers of the Lord and Cephas?

But I did not see any other of the apostles except James, the Lord’s brother.



Deacons must be husbands of only one wife, and good managers of their children and their own households.

'The priest who is the highest among his brothers, on whose head the anointing oil has been poured and who has been consecrated to wear the garments, shall not uncover his head nor tear his clothes; nor shall he approach any dead person, nor defile himself even for his father or his mother; nor shall he go out of the sanctuary nor profane the sanctuary of his God, for the consecration of the anointing oil of his God is on him; I am the LORD. 'He shall take a wife in her virginity. 'A widow, or a divorced woman, or one who is profaned by harlotry, these he may not take; but rather he is to marry a virgin of his own people, so that he will not profane his offspring among his people; for I am the LORD who sanctifies him.'"

For this reason I left you in Crete, that you would set in order what remains and appoint elders in every city as I directed you, namely, if any man is above reproach, the husband of one wife, having children who believe, not accused of dissipation or rebellion.
