That I may come to you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.

We make known to you brothers the grace of God that has been given to the congregations of Macedonia. They were very urgent in their concern for this grace and the fellowship in the ministering to the holy ones. This is not as we hoped. First they gave their own selves to the Lord, and to us by the will of God. We exhorted Titus, that as he made a beginning before, so he would also complete in you this grace. But as you have plenty of everything, in faith, and speech, and knowledge, and in all earnestness, and in your love for us, see that you have plenty of this undeserved kindness also. I speak not by way of commandment, but as proving through the earnestness of others the sincerity also of your love.

Nevertheless he who comforts the lowly, even God, comforted us by the coming of Titus.

Did I gain you by any of them whom I sent to you? I desired Titus, and with him I sent a brother. Did Titus gain you? Did we not conduct ourselves in the same mental disposition? Did we not walk in the same steps?
