Now therefore give me this mountain. This is where Jehovah spoke that day. You heard about the Anakims that day. Their cities were large and fortified and Jehovah helped me drive them out just as Jehovah said.

When Joshua and the children of Israel finished slaying them those who escaped entered the fortified cities.

Beth Nimrah, and Beth Haran as walled cities. They also built stone fences for their flocks.

He also rebuilt Upper Beth Horon and Lower Beth Horon into cities fortified with walls, double-door gates, and bars.

Their father gave them large amounts of gold, silver, and other valuable possessions, and placed each one in charge of one of the fortified cities of Judah. But because Jehoram was the oldest, Jehoshaphat made him his successor.

He stationed troops in the fortified cities of Judah. He also put troops in the Judean countryside, and in the cities that Asa had captured in the territory of Ephraim.

These were the men who served the king in addition to those whom the king put in the fortified cities throughout Judah.

Jehovah has stretched his hand over the sea to shake kingdoms. He has commanded that Canaan's fortifications be destroyed.


Hear, O Israel, you are about to cross the Jordan River. You will force out nations that are larger and mightier than you, with big cities that have sky-high walls.

I am going to die in this land. I will not cross the Jordan River. But you are going to go across and take possession of that good land.

You are about to cross the Jordan to go in to possess the land Jehovah your God is giving you. You must possess it and live in it,


Moses said to his brother-in-law Hobab son of Jethro the Midianite: We are about to start out for the place Jehovah said he would give us. He promised to make Israel prosperous, so come with us, and we will share our prosperity with you.

They are descendants of Anakim. You know all about them. You also heard it said: Who can oppose the descendants of Anak? Understand today that Jehovah your God is the one who is going ahead of you like a consuming (raging) (devouring) fire. He will wipe them out. Then he will use you to crush their power. You will take possession of their land and will quickly destroy them as Jehovah promised you.

By faith Moses, when he grew up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter. He considered the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt. He looked intently (respectfully) for the payment of the reward. By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the anger of the king. He endured, by seeing him who is invisible. By faith he kept the Passover, and the sprinkling of the blood, that the destroyer of the firstborn should not touch them.
